Guest guest
Hi, all, Things seem to shift here daily if not hourly, so I haven't taken the time to go through my recent posts. It's sufficient to say that the " bird " from whom we wanted to rent announced yesterday morning that she would not do so because the proposed housemate's mother has never bothered to appear. I can't argue with that at all. Yesterday and today I had calls from said parent but just let the machine pick up. Even though Andy and I had talked with her over the weekend, she claimed to be terribly ill --- this only after our case manager said that we didn't want the young women to be housemates and the landlord announced that she wouldn't rent to the parent. So, we're in limbo --- with no services. The Regional Center refuses to set up another 1 person ISL (though certainly has the funds for it), so we have to find a housemate. Confidentiality is the problem here. No one can give us names; everything must go through channels. Not only that, we were supposed to start " training " 's new staff (basically informally) this week, but the Medicaid Waiver apparently won't fund that until we have a house. Meanwhile, I called the other landlord with a house we liked (parent of a child with a disability) and set up a lease signing for next Monday at 4:00, only to learn after speaking with her (by the way, she left for Mexico yesterday) that our case manager may have found another possible housemate...who already has a house and thus I should put off signing a lease. I feel as though my head is a shambles. is in grand form, though she seems to find it odd that Andy is napping this afternoon and is now in bed with him, 1 dog, and three cats. Things are really awful. I guess I know how to set up adult services now, but I'm simply floored by some of the parents. You know, I've promised to write about how we've accomplished what we have (i.e., funding, etc.), but I am beginning to think that one basic goal must be to identify possible housemates while our kids are still in school. This was impossible to do for us, I guess, because was at Perkins for 7 years and we lost track of people locally.
