Hmmm....maybe that would explain him being a little " off " lately. Hasn't had

a fever, but it wouldn't hurt to have him checked.

Thanks a lot Sue!

4-8 ounces per week. 1.5 pounds is 24 ounces!! Maybe there's absolutely

nothing wrong with him and he wasn't as hungry as he thought he was. :)>>

Apparently! Like our Ped said, I think he's just going through a funk.

<<He obviously likes to nurse -- think he's trying to just suckle or mouth

you? Have you tried offering mouthing toys to him? Is he ready to start

solids? (I've forgotten how old Holden is!) Do you use a pacifier? >>

He has a really high sucking need. I will nurse him....for about 45 minutes

and he will pull off....and then stick his hands right in his mouth. He just

really likes to suck. I think part of it is that he's beginning the teething

process.

I don't think that he's ready to start solids. He's only 10 weeks. He does

seem to be getting enough food from me....his hunger is always satisfied and

he's shown no interest in my food (he sits on my lap when I eat sometimes).

I was planning to hold off on solids until 6 months unless he really needs it

before hand.

I haven't offered him a mouthing toy...I don't know that he'd be able to

" figure it out " He isn't grasping at toys yet. Also, what kind of toy would

you suggest, for when he would be ready for one? After all this news and bad

press about plastics, I'm paranoid about that chemical.

I have offered him a pacifier but he doesn't like them as much as my finger.

I've really only used it a few times, like when we were driving down to the

shore last weekend and he was EXHAUSTED.... So, instead, I offer him my

finger. I started doing that when we were doing the suck-training (and we're

still doing that), and we've just continued it. He seems to like my index

finger a lot better than a pacifier. And besides...I feel too guilty using a

pacifier. I feel like it's my job to " pacify " him. He has been sucking his

thumb recently too.....he's getting to be pretty good at that ;-)

Wow , this is an incredible idea....something I never would have

thought of! Thanks! My mom has tons of scrap fabric....different colors and

textures (velvet, corduroy, etc) and we'll have to make some of these.

THANKS!
