aww , I'm sorry. Sounds like a siezure to me too. Scarry.

As for getting up at 3:30am? We could have chatted, lol. I just woke up to

find n had gotten out of bed and was playing with the tv at 3 am. Thank

God that's all he did with the way he climbs. He didn't go back to bed until

after 6am and I had to get up.

Hugs,

Sorry to hear this Sara. 's seizures started when he was only hours

old. The sleeping after is something that happens with them. If it has to

be seizures, I'm glad they're at least the tiny ones.

Wishing you the best.

Sara,

I should've kept reading posts before I sent the first response.

This is really a bad night - do keep us posted what the ped says.

Are the kids in the same room - if not, put a small fan in one or

both rooms - the noise blocker helps keep my guys from waking each

other up (especially when sick - humidifers work well too, but need

to be cleaned often).

Good luck (and hope you get a nap today)

Amen to that.

Thanks, everybody.

We just got back from the ped. She will call to schedule an EEG. She

checked his reflexes & did a physical exam; he looks fine.

She said it is *possible* this is a behavioral thing, although the falling

asleep afterwards really does point to seizure.

She said the EEG often comes back normal if they don't have a seizure during

it, but that at least gives you a baseline and can be useful later. If he

does not have a seizure during it and it is still abnormal she said there is

a greater chance he will continue to have them, need medication for them,

and possibly develop larger ones. But mostly we will just have to watch him

and see. If they don't affect him adversely she sees no reason to medicate

him and at this point I agree very much with that. But I will be doing my

own reading and coming to my own decision.

We were in with her for 45 minutes, and not once did she look at her watch.

And I know she had other patients waiting. She told me I was very calm and

had done a great job, and a lot of mothers would have been hysterical at the

idea of seizures. She said, " Can't we have one child without any major

problems? Gabe, you looked so promising! " and it made me laugh a lot. I do

love her. I should write her a note or send her flowers or something...

I had epilepsy from birth to 4 years of age, when I just grew out of it. I

remember my mom telling me it was a " sure sign " I had a seizure b/c I " d fall

asleep RIGHT afterwards for about 10 minutes, wake up and not even know I had

one.. (of cours I have no memory of any of this). They said I also screamed a

lot of times RIGHT before I'd go into one..hmm...

Thanks .

Yeah, they're both in the room with us. The last few nights has

been walking and talking in his sleep, and that's what wakes Gabe up. He

can be really loud. I am hoping it's just the stress of the holidays and he

will settle back down soon...

I should be able to rest today...Matt is home and we had already decided we

would take turns sleeping all day today. :)

If there is any particular events, triggers that seem to have occured

before the ones you've seen, you might want to try to recreate that

before the EEG. Lack of sleep, not eating, anger, etc.

If the EEG comes back normal but you continue to see questionable

events like this, I would ask her about a 24 hour EEG.
