Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I would start by reading the book Intuitive Eating. There is also a website. It is slow process, but one that has made me feel the best I have ever felt about myself in only 5 months. Have I cut my weight in half? No. But I have done a lot of healing mentally and emotionally, and that, at this point, means so much more to me! Welcome! Kimberlie IEing since 11/08 Subject: Where do I start? To: IntuitiveEating_Support Date: Tuesday, April 7, 2009, 12:14 PM Hello, newbie here and I'm wondering where to start at this. I have been heavy, off and on, most of my life. I have tried most of the diet groups, weightwatchers, curves, tops, etc., and have lost 100's of pounds only to slowly but surely gain them all back again. I am searching for a better, healthlier way to not only lose weight but keep it off. I need to be more intune with what my body wants and needs, not with what my mind thinks it needs and wants. I am at the moment heavier then I have ever been in my life & I am determined to change the direction I have been going for awhile now. I want to learn and I need teachers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for allowing me to join your group.
Guest guest
Debbie, what works for me is to just pick ONE thing that I feel I can be comfortable starting on. That becomes the first of many 'baby steps' that get you going down the IE journey. I also look at IE as a 'feast' - so much wonderfulness to enjoy, but certainly not something that I can 'gulp' in one huge bite! Pick out some suggested practice from any of the non-dieting books (Book List is in Files section at this site - link in left/purple column) and play with it. There are no 'rules' nor a set 1, 2, 3 etc. steps to follow. Everything you try adds to your ability to change your eating patterns/habits in a positive way.
