If she was able to eat the pecans and almonds while on the diet prior to Easter I'd think that something else is the culprit. hat doesn't mean that she is able to tolerate them now (obviously) but might be able to once she improves after this setback. It may have been the illnesses and antibiotics that are causing her gut to be sensitive to the nuts. Has her thyroid been checked recently. A number of people on thyroid medication have to adjust their meds. Here is a link about thyroid medication and food interactions http://www.healthcentral.com/peoplespharmacy/pharmfulltext.cfm? Guest guest
Sheila, You think the meds and illness since Christmas would be enough to tip the scales back to dysfunction? I know her thyroid numbers tend to be erradic when she is ill, so that may just be playing a part in things. Hadn't thought of that. She has also missed meds more in the past few months too. She is due for a her routine thyroid check the end of this month. So time will tell. You all think I should just give it time-more intro foods- and try nuts again in- when? 1 month? 2 months? Any good idea for a time frame? Thanks!!! I think I am feeling better. Carol in IL doihavtasay@... Mom to 7 blessings including , 3 with DS and Grandma to Micah and Jonah. Guest guest
Hi Carol, From what others have reported and talking with friends with thyroid issues diet seems to play a fairly large role. Many reported on the LI list of having to adjust their thyroid meds. I don't know if it was enough to alter much, but with her being sick and on antibiotics probably didn't help. You may just need to cut out the nuts for a couple of weeks at least before you try again. And when you do try a small amount. That way if she reacts it hopefully won't be as bad a reaction. > You think the meds and illness since Christmas would be enough to > tip the scales back to dysfunction? Just wait a while on the nuts ...at least until she gets the thyroid checked. > Thanks!!! I think I am feeling better. > I am glad to hear that.
