I would personally not give Tylenol for a fever unless it was over 104 degrees.

Fevers are trying to do the good work of burning out the bad viral invaders (the

cold virus)..... so I'd let it run and try to keep them comfortable with wet

cloths, lukewarm baths, plenty of fluids to drink. If a child is sick and in

pain, or running a high fever, Elaine says to go ahead and give what you need to

give. You may want to order from the compounding pharmacy to have on hand for

next time. In our case, in the rare instance that I feel the need to give Katera

something for pain, I use plain regular strength Tylenol tablets, ground up and

mixed in applesauce. Yes there is a little bit of starch filler..... but it's

usually a one-time deal and I don't worry about it. Consult your pharmacist or

pediatrician for dosage...... it can be tricky to cut the tablets into the exact

strenth you need. There is also a junior strength, plain Tylenol

capsule/caplet...... that has no sweeteners or flavorings..... that might work,

depending on the milligrams you'd need. I know some will shout that Tylenol

itself is really BAD for kids with autism (Katera doesn't have autism)..... but

ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) is really bad for the gut. So, you can't win for

losing with the meds.... but consider going without if the fever is 103 or

lower. Fresh lemon juice and honey in warm water..... like a tea..... is

soothing for sipping when there's sore throat involved.

Scd Legal Fever Meds

I tried a search and found nothing on legal scd children fever

reducer meds. I called Savannah Coastal Compounding pharmacy and

they said they would have to order childrens tylnole (not sure of

spelling). My children have a head cold right now. Help! Is there

something in the store I can use?

Thanks in advance.

I had motrin compounded for my daughter. She has DS and tylonol is not

good. I don't use it very often as it is.

One of the mom's from this list recommended trying peppermint essential

on her for pain and fever relief and by golly it WORKS a lot of the

time! :-)

I put three drops in the palm of my hand, add some other oil-almond,

mineral, olive- and rub the bottom of her feet and along her spine with

it. I don't understand it, but very often we can get by with out any

meds and she is very comfortable. Smells good too. Not responsible if

your children suddenly crave candy canes with this treatment however ;-)

My pharmacist compounds Tylenol for me without starch lactose or sugar.
