Guest guest
I would like to get some opinions/advice on what kind of pump I should buy. I will be returning to school in the fall and will be leaving Holden with a sitter for 4-6 hours every day (Mon - Fri). He will be 5 months when I begin this. Would the best idea be to invest in a PiS? I'm not really sure how much BM babies at that age eat, and since he'll be only a month away from solids...if he will need less BM at that time. Or should I not spend all that $ and go with a nice manual, like the Isis? Thanks for your opinions. ~

Guest guest
, Get the Pump in Style. It will be well worth the money. 6 months is the minimum some babies don't jump right onto solids and some don't have solids until 9 months. It will keep your supply up and you'll get your money's worth. You can get them new on ebay. Wendi What kind of pump? From: Mygrdntool@... Guest guest
, Great idea. I didn't realize that pump is cheaper. Not having to buy the kit is also a bonus. Do you or anyone here have one? Wendi Re: What kind of pump?
Guest guest
I am hoping this goes thru to most of you, I am begining to hate web tv! Anyway, I own an Ameda Purely Yours and I go the cheaper one w/out the extra bottles and case because when I go to work I just put everything into a backpack and i didn't need all the bells and whistles. I got it from a vendor/LC who sold both Ameda and Medela because she loved them both. I've had people at the boards on bfng dot com ask me where to find one, I guess they are hard to find. But it has been the best $150 ! , mum to (aka peach)12-22-
Guest guest
There is a difference between the PIS and the Ameda. I'm pretty sure it is the cycling times. The PIS more closely imitates the baby's sucking pattern. will have more on this, I'm sure. If not, I have a link with the all the #s. (just too tired to search for it now 80) . Tammy Wahm to 13, 11, and Maddie 1 http://www.sgx.net/tammy I would definately reccomend an electric double if you can afford it. It will cut pumping time in half and the double will keep your polactin levels up in case your supply should fall a little from pumping As far as brand see what yu can afford. The PIS works good but for $50 less you can also have an Ameda Purely Yours which is basically the same except it comes out of the case and can be operated on batteries w/out buying an extra kit. Maybe you could try renting one of each and see what you like best.
Guest guest
, A 6 month old is still getting most of his/her nutritional needs met thorough breastmilk. You will really need a good pump, unless you're an expert at hand expression. Bear in mind that every mom is different, but most women clearly benefit from something similar to the PIS which enables them to pump both breasts at the same time. This cuts your pumping time in half and increases your prolactin levels (which was already mentioned.) Sometimes you can find a PIS second hand. Legally this is not proper because the PIS is designed as a one user item, which is why the can't be tried out or rented or sometimes even returned. Again, the actual chance of getting a contaminated pump is extremely small. I don't know is Medela sells a replacement kit, which you could purchase to ensure that all the parts that touch your body and your milk are new and sterile. You could call somewhere that sells/rents Medela products to find out. --- Mygrdntool@... wrote: > From: Mygrdntool@... > > I would like to get some opinions/advice on what > kind of pump I should buy. > > I will be returning to school in the fall and will > be leaving Holden with a > sitter for 4-6 hours every day (Mon - Fri).
