I wouldn't make any assessments on long-term results just yet--it's way too

early, and you're still too swollen.

I, too was very uncomfortable in pants at the two-week post-op point. It does

improve with each passing week.

Your symptoms almost have a digestive (GERD or hiatal hernia) feeling to

me--especially when you mention " pushed up to the breast area. " (Even without

the heartburn that often--but not always-- goes with it.)

But don't worry--if this is the case, it may resolve on its own.

Are you taking any medications? Ibuprofen (i.e., Motrin or any NSAIDS, like

aspirin) could exacerbate GERD. If your dietary routine is not back to

normal, this could influence the problem, too.

Hiatal hernias (which are extremely common) don't magically disappear, but

usually can be treated and cause no real problems. Sometimes they are

asymptomatic, and are found only when a patient has an upper endoscopy for

another condition.

I think my own GERD/hiatal hernia problems were exacerbated by my enlarged

uterus. I take Prevacid which is very effective, (but EXPENSIVE.)

Needless to say, I'm just speculating, based on my own experience. But if

the problem persists past the six-week point, you might want to discuss it

with a gastroenterologist.

Meantime, think " loose and comfortable " for a while.

Hi (Dr.) Roma,

I never thought about the Motrin causing any problems. I don't

generally take any medication at all so for me to take Motrin like I

have in the past two weeks is very unusual for me.

I did consider the hernia, but haven't really looked into all the

symtoms or treatment of that. I may mention it to my family doctor

when I go Friday for this vascular surgeon referral thing. Boy, the

myo. is starting to sound like the easiest part of my medical problems

lately!

Thanks!
