Guest guest
Hi from Guelph! I have also been feeling a little over the top lately. This fall we have had to say good bye to 3 very dear family members. and had not yet had to deal with death and within 5 weeks we had 3 funerals. has essentially been home from school since Thanksgiving due to a tailbone injury. He was healing well until he fell last week. Now he can't tollerate sitting at all. This is so disheartening when he was so close to returning to school. He needs extra pain meds. just to cope. He gets 5 hours of home instruction a week but I find that we have to do a lot with him to keep up. missed one week of school this month due to a nasty chest cold. He has already missed around 22 days of school mainly for medical reasons. Last night he fell and did some major damage to several (acl, medial and lateral) ligaments in his knee. He can not put any weight on the leg at all. His shoulders are too unstable to use crutches so he is confined to a wheelchair that he can't push by himself. We are in the process of getting a powerchair but it will be awhile. I have been trying to keep up with all 3 of my part time contracts but it is tough. I have an interview Friday for a new job with a rehab. agency working with recovering addicts and their children. It would be part time 12 - 20 hours aweek. I would give up 2 of my contracts to do it which would be tough as I have worked with these families for over 2 years. With all that is happening it doesn't look like we will be travelling to see family this Christmas at all. As always you are all in my thoughts and prayers even when life doesn't allow me much time for e-mail. C.

Guest guest
From someone who has an ACL injury (have had since 1993) and have had it reconstructed twice (using my middle 1/3rd patella tendon on same knee (Left one) in 1994 and using hamstring tendon graft from same knee (Left one)). I also have MCL and possibly PCL and LCL damage in that knee as well as articular cartliage etc. I can sympathise with him totally. As to the tailbone injury my brother fractured his in his teens and had to spend like 8 weeks lying on his tummy and wasn't allowed to sit down or lie on his back and had to limit his walking as well (Boy it sticks in your mind (I mean I am 32 now and he is 36 <LOL>). I hope your son's are feeling better soon (and I too have been looking at the fact that I may need to go the powerchair route soon but REALLY DON'T want to go that route yet (I do use store/mall scooters sometimes) and looked at getting a scooter but I think a powerchair is better as then I don't have to put my arms up etc to steer etc (You know what I mean) the second things is I don't think a powerchair will fit in my car and I do NOT want to buy a NEW car (this car is only like 3-4 yrs old) it is a Honda CRV.
