Many people have had trouble with Asacol. It actually worsened their bleeding. They found sulfasalazine (also goes by the name azulfidine) to be the better drug. Some people need to slowly increase the amounts of sulfasalazine and others (like myself) are able to start at the recommended dosage. Guest guest
Sheila, Yes, all the fruits and vegetables are peeled, deseeded, cooked till soft, and mashed. Guest guest
Hi Tali, I had a period at the beginning of the diet when my eczema and acne got much worse. Looking back it was a sign of die-off. It got a lot worse before it got better. It then cleared up fairly quickly but was very tender/inflammed for about a week. You may be going through continued die-off. Are there any other negative symptoms or indications of die-off? Although my skin got worse my bowels were improving. That would help determine if it is a problem with food or just more die-off. Either way epsom salts baths may help. It could be the asacol causing trouble, but I don't know if it would be in your breastmilk. That's a question for a pharmacist or doctor. Guest guest
Sheila, The thing that's hardest about introducing new foods into this diet is trying to determine whether a symptom is being caused by die-off, or by an intolerance to the new food. Personally, I find it impossible to tell the difference. Does anybody have any ideas for how to differentiate the two? Guest guest
Hi Tali, These link may help (it defines some die-off symptoms) http://www.pecanbread.com/badreaction.html http://www.pecanbread.com/difficulties.html#initial It is hard to tell because each child is different. Are Avi's symptoms the same now as they were when he started the nut flour? Is it diarrhea or constipation or somewhere in between? our answer may help give some clues to whether it is die-off or a food he isn't ready for yet.
