Guest guest
HI Carolyn... Hon most pain, inflammation, burning, itch, etc. is because of 'histamine' release within the body (and others but that's a main one) and the cells degranuate and explode and send that out, so that's why an anti-histamine (blocking histamine) can help a lot for relief. Generally histamine is good for us it helps wounds heal, fights infection etc. etc, but when it's overactive and doesn't quit (say even in those with allergies) it's on overdrive so adding one helps to slow it down and ease those symptoms. Often even with a yeast infection for example. We may have gotten rid of the actual yeast but be left over with the inflammation of it, and instead assume we've still got the yeast. Not necessarily so, it's the inflammation that hasn't calmed down. That's another instance where an antihistamine may help. Also in many articles I"m now seeing them incorporate one with whatever treatment. I think I've seen that with Dr. for one. Much more than that but that's just a quick snyopsis. If you put histamine or antihistamine in the search engine at our home page under messages you'll find tons of info I've sent on it before hon. Some get the prescriptions... like the Allegra or Atarax, etc., others have luck with a general inexpensive OTC one like Benedryl (even topical) And I have read those that make us sleepy seem to work the best.... so for what that's worth but no doubt the others (non drowsy) seem to be benefical with some people too.
