Guest guest
I recommend you wait and go in October or November. Even though you can get a disability pass -- The heat is brutal right now and it is very crowded there. The Omni Championsgate is the nicest hotel - it's 10 miles from Disney and has an awesome pool area. I am looking for something affordable but also close enough that if my five year old has a meltdown on his first visit, we can take him to our room to recoup. (He gets sensory overload sometimes and does very well with short breaks in quiet rooms.)Also, what would be a reliable website to purchase Florida resident discounted tickets? Thanks! Guest guest
A few things to consider. If you stay offsite, it can be quiet a distance to reach the hotel. If you stay on site, you must consider how you get to and from the hotel to the park. Many of the resorts have bus systems to get around which a child in a meltdown may be unable to handle. We normally camp at Fort Wilderness, but in the summer it is too hot, so I do not have a hotel idea. I will let you know that we did have a major meltdown at the Magic Kingdom the first day. We have learned to take a ride on the monorail or the ferryboats outside the park as needed to calm down and regroup > > > Hi listmates, > > I am looking to book a couple of nights at a hotel close to Magic Kindgom. Guest guest
We have stayed at the Disney Swan Resort. It is across a pond from Epcot. There are free busses to all the Disney parks. Also, there is a ferry that takes you across the pond to Epcot. It is a very short walking distance to a Boardwalk with many restaurants. The rooms are soundproof, we had a great view of the Epcot fireworks from our room without the noise. I think there is a Florida resident price for $149.00 per night. Subject: Re: Best Hotel for Magic Kingdom visitTo: sList Date: Monday, June 29, 2009, 1:23 PM As far as hotels, nothing is very close to the park. I would guess that the ones that have Monorail service are the most convenient. Grand Floridian, Polynesian & Contemporary but they are usually the more expensive ones. On the other hand taking a bus can sometimes be a nightmare as they sometimes make 2-3 stops before getting to your hotel. So it may worth it to spend a little more even if you go less days. Don't forget to go to Guest Svcs with a letter stating your son's DX, so you can get a pass to skip lines. There are also nursing rooms throughout the park where you can go for a break. They put us in a first floor room that was literally steps from the monorail inside Disney. At the time it wasn't expensive at all but the convenience was priceless. Guest guest
I created a program called, 'Going to Disney World'. It may help your child plan ahead for the trip. Unfamilar places, events, and people can cause meltdowns. In my program, I try to familiarize Disney World to your child. I describe the entire event, from planning the trip, to going around the park. You can download it at www.hiyah.net.. It's free:) Sara>>> Hi listmates,>> I am looking to book a couple of nights at a hotel close to Magic Kindgom. Guest guest
I agree about the Polynesian ,the monorail being right there was great. We stayed at the Disney Pop century last time. The pool areas are nice but hated the rooms (small), however the bus drops you off right at the MK door! most of the downtwn dis. buses drop you off at the monorail station so this was a nice surprise since the ride was so much quicker! The Baby Centers are a nice option for meltdowns. It's a quiet area with a/c, changing stations , high chairs, a small kitchen to heat up food, small tables and chairs and a tv where you can escape away from the madness. My son is 7 and we still use that room bathroom breaks or to heat up his food in. The MK is located on off of Mainstreet to the on the left side before the Crystal Palace. I also have a clip on fan for the stroller for the hot MK visits. As for tickets, we always pre-purchase them at the hotel but only if it's a Disney hotel. That way, we don't have to worry about yet another line to make. You can also buy them online and have them mailed to you too.
Guest guest
Each park (except Hollywood) also has a baby station. This usually has private rooms or a play/tv area that is perfect for a quiet moment. In addition there is a first aid station that has a nice waiting room with couches. I love going there with my child to sit, have a snack, take a break, and talk about behavior. They are really nice and so far no one has ever asked me to leave or anything like that. Epcot has an air conditioned hallway behind the character greet spot/store and the Cool Club Coke-drinking spot that has benches for taking a break. You cannot see any stores or toys from there unlike other areas. and they have free sodas in that club, just FYI. We do the parking lot thing a lot. My hubby just walks our girl back to the parking lot and they sit in the car if a meltdown happens till she is better. She gets sensory overloaded a lot... but not really bad enough to leave for the hotel. Have a fun trip! We love going. > > > > > > Hi listmates, > > > > I am looking to book a couple of nights at a hotel close to Magic Kindgom.
