Guest guest
by your pediatrician when you voiced concerns about your childs development? Were you told " boys talk later than girls " or " maybe he's a late talker? " At 18 months did your Pediatrician say " let's wait til your next visit? " 10 years ago that's what we were told. There are Bills in both the Senate and the House in Tallahassee that would require a Pediatrician to make the appropriate referral or give parents direct access for a diagnosis without a referral. The Senate Bill was heard and passed its first Committee stop earlier this week, but the House Bill has yet to be put on a Committee agenda. The Bills in question are S0242 by Senator Ring and H0089 by Representative Precourt. http://www.flsenate.gov/Session/index.cfm?Mode=Bills & SubMenu=1 & BI_Mode=ViewBillI\ nfo & Year=2009 & BillNum=0242 It may be too late for this Bill to help any of us, but your support may help those that are hearing these words from their Pediatrician today. Please consider calling or e-mailing your State Senator and Representative and asking them to help pass these good Bills.
