Hi ne,

I noticed you were from NJ. We are also from NJ and are also having

problems finding a preschool for my son. He will be 4 in Sept. and

has not been in school yet becuase of the seizures - but he really

needs to start - he needs to be interacting with other kids his age.

We were turned down for our town's special ed preschool and now we

are trying to find something for September - not easy is it???

Hi ne....... Welcome back. Sorry about the circumstances, though. I love

this group but wish I didn't have to be here sometimes..... bittersweet, isn't

it? Hope things get better when you get that extra weight off. That has caused

problems for us in the past. I'll be interested in how it goes with this med. I

haven't heard of it before...... so it's not a seizure med? It's for the

headaches? Irritability has always been part of the picture for Katera.......

some days are better than others. Headaches are supposed to be common with her

particular brain disorder so I wonder sometimes...... of course, she can't tell

us.

started Seroquel

My daughter started a medication called Seroquel this week. Does

anyone have experience with it? We decided to try it because she may be

possibly having bad headaches and is very irritable and throwing her head

back constantly (slamming it many times). She started having seizures about

a month and a half ago. The diet didn't fail. I slipped on it. The thing

was I was thinking " if it's not broke, don't fix it " . She went for almost a

year seizure free so I wasn't paying attention to weight gain. Well, she

gained 11 pounds and is now having seizures and all this crap that seems to

go along with it. Adjusted calories with the dietitian a few weeks ago and

added this med so I know now it's a waiting game. Body needs to adjust. I

did have a couple different behavorists see her and neither feels what is

going on with she has control of. They feel its neurological and related to

the seizures. Their advice is get her seizure free again because man she

was a happy kid then with none of this stuff so that's the goal. I just

hope it's achieved quick, I feel horrible for her. School is pushing her

out cause they can't handle it, they gave us through the summer but told us

she needs a new place for Sept. A school that handles kids with behaviors

that seemed perfect, turned her down. (But that could be an answer to

prayer) Any input is appreciated and of course prayer.

Keto group - Yes, we're back. I've been a big lurker.
