Guest guest
ok, I'm seeing 's dr today to get him to write something to get a 504, and home help for . All your advise should help me today, and the school nurse is on my side. Hopefully,I won't forget anything. Ijust got her progress reports yesterday, and she has F's in ALL her classes, mostly due to absences and missed work. She has never been a great student, so it doesn't take much for her grades to go way down. I had a long talk with her last night, and found out that her anxiety is making everything worse. She's afraid she's got some life threatning diseas, and is gonna die. She's convinced her hair is falling out. Had to explain many times that it'sthe treatment for cancer that causes hair to fall out, not the cancer itself. And, that she's had many blood tests, and if it was something real sinister, they would already know (not that EDS isn't sinister, but you know what I mean). has obsessive compulsive disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. She see's a psychiatrist once a month for it, and is on 60 mg of celexa every day. She has rituals, and obsessive thoughts of something very bad happening to her or the family, which are worse if she can't do the rituals. She has it pretty well under control with the medication, but it still lingers, and the anxiety is still there somewhat. It gets worse with stress. I know anxiey makes things worse. It took a lot of convincingg that she's not gonna die, or loose her leg. I still don't think she's completely convinced. The poor little thing. It really bothered her when the pain dr said " So, what's a 15 year old girl doing in my office? " And the tech at the vascular surgeon's office, who said he has never seen anyone so young before there. That doesn't help much. I think I'll also ask the dr who we can see at Children's. So, wish me luck, that the dr will get his head out, and help us here!
