, Here in Michigan, the Dr writes a script for the 504 and for the

reacurring illness (absences) The 504 plan is done at the school. What is needed

like no books to carry, early and late disimcle from each class, doing every

other problem to limit work, what ever you all decide will help her. You will

have a meeting with people at school to decide what will be written on that 504.

It can be changed at any time to help her as she gets better or worse. Any

questions, just call me. And with the anxiety..... that sweet child, my gosh

she is having a hard time of it. I haven't dealt with that, but I hope someone

here can help you. You might want to let the Dr that handles that part, what is

going on. The Dr might want to adjust those meds a bit to help her though this.

You know you can call any time. C

school stuff

ok, I'm seeing 's dr today to get him to write something to

get a 504, and home help for .

All your advise should help me today, and the school nurse is on my

side.

Hopefully,I won't forget anything. Ijust got her progress reports

yesterday, and she has F's in ALL her classes, mostly due to

absences and missed work. She has never been a great student, so it

doesn't take much for her grades to go way down.

I had a long talk with her last night, and found out that her

anxiety is making everything worse. She's afraid she's got some

life threatning diseas, and is gonna die. She's convinced her hair

is falling out. Had to explain many times that it'sthe treatment

for cancer that causes hair to fall out, not the cancer itself.

And, that she's had many blood tests, and if it was something real

sinister, they would already know (not that EDS isn't sinister, but

you know what I mean).

has obsessive compulsive disorder, and generalized anxiety

disorder. She see's a psychiatrist once a month for it, and is on

60 mg of celexa every day. She has rituals, and obsessive thoughts

of something very bad happening to her or the family, which are

worse if she can't do the rituals. She has it pretty well under

control with the medication, but it still lingers, and the anxiety

is still there somewhat. It gets worse with stress.

I know anxiey makes things worse. It took a lot of convincingg that

she's not gonna die, or loose her leg. I still don't think she's

completely convinced.

The poor little thing. It really bothered her when the pain dr

said " So, what's a 15 year old girl doing in my office? " And the

tech at the vascular surgeon's office, who said he has never seen

anyone so young before there. That doesn't help much.

I think I'll also ask the dr who we can see at Children's.

So, wish me luck, that the dr will get his head out, and help us

here!

Hi,

I just picked up the paperwork for the home/hospital tutor. And, now I am SO

MAD they didn't suggest this for . I didn't know anyting about it then.

How dare they just let her spiral down like they did!

I'm gonna ask the dr today to do this for too. She is home again today.

I think she's getting depressed. All these health issues. She isn't feeling

well, can't sleep right, so tired.

is seeing her psychiatris next week. We will definetly see what he can

do. even said last night she's worried she's getting depressed, and she

knows that depressed people sometime want to die. It's heartbreaking. She's so

scared.

Predictably, my pain is horrible this morning. I was ok - not too bad

yesterday. Maybe I didn't sleep well. I almost thnk I tense up my muscles

sometimes when I sleep.

Life isn't suppose to be like this. I have these 3 beautiful kids, a wonderful

husband, don't have to work, no money problems, and things are terrible.

Hugs,

Mon

As info, there are a series of acupressure points specifically for

anxiety attacks. And there must be something to them because they

are starting to be used by first responders (Police/Fire/EMT's) in

crisis intervention situations.

I can show both you and how to do them. Most of them she

could do on herself since they are on the front of the body.

,

You may also want to talk to her psycologist/psychiatrist (not sure

of the difference)about the possibility of seeing him/her more often

during this process of getting her help so that she can et help and

get all of these feelings OUT. I have a fear of cancer myself, while

it is NOT major it is there (I lost my Mother to cancer last year,

her brother to cancer when I was a teen, and numerous other distant

family members to cancers).

Have you thought of sitting down together and researching EDS on the

internet, this may help her come to teerms with the signs, symptoms

etc of EDS (You need a full list of symptoms if you can find one) so

that when or if she gets a new symptom she can check her list first

to see if it is likely EDS related (you may want to ask all here what

THERE personal list of symptoms are as we seem to know more about EDS

than the researchers and doctors).

I was just thinking that maybe this would help quell her fears that

any new symptoms and existing symptoms are something more sinister

than her EDS (Like you said Not that EDS isn't sinister but it isn't

terminal etc in most forms)you may want to leave a lot of the severe

vascular symptoms OFF the list.

Hope this helps
