Guest guest
Hi , Nobody has been killed yet for posting a question. Perhaps some slight flesh wounds ... (that's a joke). The diet was not originally written for ASD -- it was written for bowel disease, and I have ABSOLUTELY no doubt that it will help your son's stools. Give it a try for a good 3 - 4 months anyway, and you will see. It's a beautiful, healthy way of eating. Sue (From Pickering) Mom to , 4.5, formerly? Guest guest
Welcome! There's a great bunch of gals here so feel free to ask away! Our DS is not ASD. He has had some pretty bad behavior problems that wer believed were related to food allergies. After taking out more and more food choices we decided to try SCD in attempt to heal his gut and so far so good! We've been on the diet for 4 months with the thought that we'd do 6 months. He's doing so well lately, I think we'll probably go a year before testing nonSCD food! We didn't see any consistent results until recently, but one month may be enough for you guys to see how it will go and then you can decide it you want to keep going. It's definately worth a try and I'm sure it would help the whole family Chrystee Sam SCD 4 months > > Can and will this diet help him.. if the medicine does not 'break > the cycle'? Guest guest
, my son was the same situation as yours three years ago. There were really no reasons known for the runny stools accept we thought colostridia, a few times. We were on Dan and the runny stools got worse. antibiotics, diflucan, etc etc. Then after a year of Dan trying to figure out what the heck to do, I was told by a Dan doctor that had over a 1000 kids that were autistic that he was one out of two kids in his practice he jsut could not figure out. So about that time is when we switched hears to homeotoxicology because our kids are so darn toxic they need help to get this stuff out. Its energetic medicine and has done wonders for hundreds maybe more. We also took rice and potatos out of his diet and saw an immediate change in stools. Kept detoxing and within a few months runny stools no more. The answer to your q about the diet/ Yes I do think it will help. But remember in my opinion these kids need more thatn just diet and it is not drugs. Imodium is just surpressing what needs to come out of the body. Your treating the symptom. The key is to get to the core. The cause of the problem for pure health and vital energy. Energetic medicine works. Go to homeodetox-talk on egroups for more information. I do believe diet is one of the major pieces of the puzzle in recovery but like I said these kids need more help. There bodys cant function properly with out it.Peel the layers away and eventually the body will function on its own. If you go to the group ask for info on reading first to get you started and read the archives and ask questions. people are real nice there. There are moms with reconvered kids that have dabbles in the stuff for years. kimberly tristans mom > Ok We have been through the mill of, stool tests, endoscopy and > colonoscopy with my two year old son. Guest guest
Do you think it would behoove me to get him allergy tested? I hate to put him through any more stuff.. Also my oldest son is ADHD and some SID, also I have noticed that he has a fine bright red rash just above his eyebrows lots of the time, and it seems to be showing up where he would have sidburns as well.. could different foods be causing this? We did do Feingold for a while and i found that he is reacting to OJ, RED dyes and possibly apples which he loves.. > Welcome! Guest guest
Actually I lost 20 lbs without even trying on SCD. I eat as much fat as I want, as long as it's legal, that is! I find that I don't have the carb cravings I did preSCD and I get full faster so I eat less. I don't feel deprived as long as I can have my smoothies and cheesecake every once in awhile. Ideally, I'd like to lose another 20 but I don't feel as pressured now. I think with exercise and SCD I'll get to what I'm supposed to weight. I'm pretty happy where I am right now actually and I've been struggling with my weight all my life. Good luck! Guest guest
> Do you think it would behoove me to get him allergy tested? I hate > to put him through any more stuff.. > Well, most regular allergy tests won't find the kind of sensitivities and behavioral reactions that alot of us find in our kids. It's much easier on the kids and cheaper for you if you keep a diet diary and note what the kids eat and what kind of behavior you see. Alot of moms see bright, red cheeks when there's a sensitivity to casein or salicylates (we're doing Feingold here too.) Again, the diet diary would help you pinpoint a little better. Plus if you start the intro and add new foods in really slowly you'll be able to tell very easily which foods are causing what behaviors. Good luck Chrystee Sam SCD 4 months
Guest guest
<<has anyone lost weight on this diet.. that needed to?>> Yes...... I've been eating *mostly* SCD.... about 95%.... along with Katera for about a year and in that time, have lost 25 of the 50 I needed to lose. I am sure that I need to exercise more to get the rest off.... but am glad it's going nice and slow. I've lost weight quickly before... only to have it come right back.
