I just wanted to say that last June, I also got upper plates and will probably be getting lower in the next year. My teeth have always been terrible. At age 5, they were green and at 12, my dentist told my mother I would have plates by the time I was 16. Fooled them and waited till I was 45. Lot of money in this mouth!!!!

So that blows the NF and ROTTEN teeth theory out the window ?

M

not necessarily no, not everybody has the same things happen, but often times theres a similar happening in so many of us that it just appears to be NF2 related, you know what I mean?? take "lazy eye" not everyone of us have a lazy eye but so many of us do, chances are its NF2 related...

Well I just need to say with all this DENTURE TALK, I had perfect teeth, still pretty close too. People used to ask the MRS if I had false teeth. I used to hate having my pic taken, looked like an all white key piano ! Their still all there but hard to find without using two hands.

So that blows the NF and ROTTEN teeth theory out the window ?

I need to agree with Marcus here. I also have pretty good teeth and

I've had dbl paralysis (a little has returned... very little) since

around 1985. My teeth arent perfect, I do have a couple cavities and

fillings (all but one happened before the paraalysis) and I was also

locked up in braces as a teenager. I've since stopped the retainer

thing so a couple teeth have shifted a little. It was only a few

months after the braces were off, flop goes the smile, the teeth were

hidden. Very hard, but having the braces taught me a lesson I guess I

was going to need in the future, brush them... often. I sometimes

even carry a travel toothbrush in my purse.

Oh,I gotta disagree bigtime.I've lost top and bottom front teeth to "crumbling".My dentist has flat out said it is from the dry mouth caused by the face paralyse.

Not all us nf2ers experience the same "joys" brought on by this dang disease.

I agree, had never heard of "crumbl;ing" before, but when we were in LV in Feb., I had two huge molars "crumble" which necessitated a new partial plate to the tune of $1000!! Marie

Well you can have a fault with the enamel of your teeth, which is common in lots of people which would explain a lot of from childhood problems. Other than that dental hygiene plays a HUGEEEEE part in it too. Try using a mouth wash as well as brushing your teeth it kills all the bacteria and flossing .And go easy on the M & M;s

I have lazy eye. I talked to my optometrist about it.

He feels that it is tumour related.

Many years ago, when I was young,(back in the days when doctors told you nothing) it was recommended that I wear a patch over my good eye to force the lazy one to work. I am in my fifties now so I was told that method is not recommended and that an operation would only be considered if I lost sight in my good eye.

Hay Randy, Most of us have been through the PATCH ONE EYE thing when we were young. It does no good what so ever, the LAZY eye thingy is very popular here on crew.
