Guest guest
I read a piece by Dr Leo Galland (an intestinal dysbiosis expert) that anti-parasitic treatment should not include probiotics. He states that the parasites feed off " good " bacteria and, presumably, get worse if probiotics are given. Giving probiotics is therefore wasted money and also undermines the parasite treatment. On the other hand, I think there is the idea that flooding the gut with good flora will compete away pathogens, including parasites. I think the idea is that parasites cling to the gut wall but so do good bugs and these can crowd out the parasites, as well as other bad bacteria, if given in sufficient numbers. The problem my boy has is that he has bad bacteria too, notably, clostridia, and a standard way to deal with these is to give high dose probiotics. I am trying VSL#3 which allows for 200 billion units at a single dose. Dr Tom Borody's clinic in Sydney, Australia, recommends this product. Any suggestions or comments?
