Guest guest
Hi Ladies... It's me Glitter. =o) It's been a while since I posted. I've been pretty busy lately and haven't had the time to even turn my computer on; so, I thought it was about time for me to get on here and read all of these emails. First, I would like to congratulate all of you ladies who just underwent your myomectomies!!! How wonderful it is to finally be over that big hurdle!! I hope all of you are doing well and recovering as quickly and painlessly as possible. I am 3 1/2 weeks post myo and I feel great! I have a little soreness in the main incision area if I stretch too much but other than that I feel sooooo wonderful and I hope you guys get to this point ASAP!! If you have any questions or comments...please feel free to ask and I will help as much as I can. =o) As for me, I just had my post-op appointment today and Dr. Advincula removed all of my restrictions as long as I feel ok doing things. He also went over my surgery with me. The original estimated size of my largest fibroid from the MRI report said that it was about 7 cm. Immediately following my surgery, Dr. Advincula estimated it to be around 9 cm. Well, to both my and Dr Advinculas surprise, that sucker was a lot bigger than we ever imagined...It measured in at 14 x10 x 7 cm! Just that one fibroid weighed 190 grams....which is a little over a half a pound. It was the size of a very large grapefruit or larger. It was all the way thru into the cavity of my uterus and took up the entire space plus some. He described it by saying that if the room we were sitting in were the cavity of my uterus it would be like a huge boulder crashing thru the room and stopping at the other end of the room. He said that it was no wonder I was hemorrhaging so badly and that the pain was so high. He said nothing could stop that size from bleeding once it was all the way thru the wall as it was; hence, the failed Lupron. Although it probably was even larger prior to the use of Lupron. I asked about any other fibroids that were remaining and he said that there was " not much left " when he was done. I actually believe that the original MRI report that suggested many fibroids was actually just the one large fibroid. I added the total sizes up for each of the original results and they almost add up to the end results of the one fibroid exactly. Anyhow, he said that there may be seedlings but they are very tiny and do not pose a threat to my well being. He said my uterus looked " normal size " after the one fibroid was removed. I feel so very blessed and fortunate to have had this surgery and to have found such a wonderful, caring, sweet and empathetic doctor as Dr. Advincula. He has given me back my life and happiness. I can not possibly express my immense gratitude for having found such a competent and caring doctor. He was not just a good surgeon, he talked to me like a was a person not just a patient and listened to everything and anything I had to say. He took his time at each appointment and was extremely personable and easy to open up to. I would highly recommend him to anyone and would say that he is well worth traveling for. Besides the very light post-op spotting...which has stopped completely now....yippee, I have not bled or hemorrhaged since March 22nd!! It has been 51 days and I can not even begin to tell you all how overjoyed I am to just feel normal for once! I have to admit I am a little fearful to go without protection but it feels so awesome not to!! I went to unemployment today and was sitting there waiting my turn and all of a sudden I thought, " oh my god, what if I start to hemorrhage right here??? I'm not even protected!! " Of course that did not and I know it will not happen again; but, after living in panic and fear for so long it is ingrained in me to always stay protected and to be prepared. I have even went for my four mile walks without having all of the pressure and urgency to urinate every 10 minutes and it just feels sooooo fantastic!! I haven't tried sex yet...lol...~wink~ but I will tonight and I will post tomorrow to let you guys know how this has affected that as well. I could go on and on but I guess I have said enough! See my myo ladies, look what you have to look forward to!! I feel as giddy as a kid...maybe it is a bit premature but just knowing that monster fibroid is gone outta me feels soooooo great!!! I know a lot of you ladies have and have had much larger ones than me; but, 14 cms was more than large enough for me! The best of luck to all of you and I can't wait to hear your success stories very soon!! Love Ya' all! Ecstatic in Southeastern Michigan!! ~smile~ ***Glitter***
Guest guest
Glitter - Glad you're feeling so much better! Were you able to have your myomectomy done laparoscopically? If so, how did he manage the 14cm fibroid? I'm curious because I have two 8cm and 10cm, and I was told they are too big for laparascopic surgery. Keep getting better! maria
