Hi, a few quick questions:

Jack's tests showed yeast, but we've been doing nystatin and his BM's

are fine. How long should we do intro diet for?

In the past, I've tried to get Jack to drink goat's milk. I also hid

it in smoothies, but he hated the taste. (I didn't like it either.)

Does goat's yogurt taste " goaty? " Can you use cow's milk instead?

I always thought saccharin wasn't safe. Why is it allowed on the

diet? Was I misinformed about it's safety?

Thanks,

Jack 10-25-00 autism -- not SCD yet

,

I would suggest doing the intro for 2 days.

As for the taste of the goat yogurt, it depends on they type of goat

milk you use. Some brands of goat milk taste very goaty (like

Meyenberg), while others taste very similar to cow's milk (like

Caprine Estates).

The goat yogurt will taste " goaty " if you use a " goaty " tasting milk.

So you might want to buy one of each of the types you have

available and taste them yourself to determine which one tastes

better to you.

We have also found that the " ultra-pasturized " milk does not

produce the best yogurt.

As for the saccharine issue, try typing it into Elaine's website to

get the information on it. http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info

You asked: << Can you use cow's milk instead?>>

Yes..... you can. If your child has never had a problem with cow's milk

products, you can make the SCD yogurt from cow's milk. Most ASD families start

SCD either dairy free...... or with goat dairy (introducing it later, and

slowly), due to having been casein free previously.

, I use cow's milk with Luke (organic). Previous to SCD I had already

determined that liquid milk was the culprit with him (lactose) but that he

handled cheese and butter, fine. Using cow's milk in the yogurt is the same

thing. As long as the lactose is taken care of, his system handles it fine,

and he is doing great.
