Zanna and Lynn doctor question

When did you start the Paxil? I don't remember. Paxil is known to

have withdrawal problems. I was told I could switch from one SSRI to

another immediately. You could perhaps switch to Celexa- and I would

take 20mg. Then perhaps you might gradually want to taper- very very

gradually- to see how it goes. I am finding other ways to deal with

things like anxiety and depressive episodes- or simply ride them out.

I honestly believe taking the fish oil capsules is helping ( it's

been shown to) and highly recommend that. Zanna, ask your doctor and

read up on Paxil and the SSRIs- lots of info on the web, right from

the manufacturer and medical sites.

Lynn, I think I can guess why you're asking the question as to what

doctor has prescribed antidepressants- wanna know MY first induction?

Well, our marriage counselor said I might want to give this new drug

Celexa a try and a doctor she knows ( I've seen this doctor in the

past, years ago) called them " happy " pills-- good for women going

thru premenopause mood swings, etc, and could help me " cope " with

issues and " focus " better on my life's direction. So, I put in a call

to this gal Dr. She called me back, we talked briefly on the phone,

and voila! I get free samples and a long term prescription. No exam

or anything. Got same thing from other internist--- just kind of

like " here you go " . I now believe psychiatrists should be the only

ones prescribing these drugs and overseeing- it's not the realm of

GP's and internists. In case of an emergency, possibly a GP could

give a temporary script and then refer patient to a psych Dr. for at

least a consult ASAP. I think therapy, nutrition and other things

should always be tried first. Having a family/friend support system

goes a long way, too. Judge
