Guest guest
, Good to hear is doing better...... may it continue. I think your idea of being pre-emptive, or pro-active, is a good one. I'm going to be meeting with our neuro soon and discussing our options, too. It's good to know you can do something that may be there to back you up in the future. I also know that " too soon to tell " feeling...... hanging in there myself right now. The SCDiet is quite a nice change, isn't it..... in terms of not weighing, and the snack options? I'm enjoying it...... although after being strictly Keto for 2 years and 3 months, I'm still nervous about stepping outside the box. Patti SCdiet/we switched! Well, we switched over to the specific carbohydrate diet. I know I said we were going to try to wean the keto diet first, but we ran into some complications. With the increase in Felbatol, is not eating much. We experienced this when we started Felbatol and it went away, so I'm not worried. The problem was, it was very hard to gradually lower the ratio with not eating. We were seeing higher ketones instead of lower ones because of the lack of food. So a couple of days ago, we just switched straight over to the SC diet. So far so good. is doing much better. Honestly, I think that the increase in Felbatol is starting to work rather than any dietary intervention. Still, the SC diet hasn't made things worse. still has small ketones in the morning and moderate-ish ones in the afternoon. I still try to add a little fat here and there, but it's nice not to have to weigh anything or worry about whether was drinking all his cream (a constant worry). I do have the book and the recipes are pretty good. And it's great to see LOTS of healthy food on a plate. actually ate a 1/2 banana with peanut butter and a cup or orange juice for a snack! Anyway, I think we're going to use the SC diet as a sort of " transition " diet. Do the SC diet strictly for 3-6 months and then add a few grains back in slowly. Hopefully is on an upward trend (too soon to tell). We're still probably going to do the VNS even if does much better. We're thinking instead of our usual plan (waiting until there's a crisis and then panicking over what to do), we might be pre-emptive this time and look for improvement before there's a problem.
