Guest guest
Would high ketones cause an increase in seizures? s level has been high (160) for a couple of days and she has had a larger amount of petit mals yesterday and today. Also she had a grand mal yesterday. First one in 5 weeks. I accidentally left the butter out on the counter and I found the empty wrapper in her room today. (yuck) I think there was about 1/4 of a stick left when she got ahold of it. Could this have caused the high level of ketones which possibly caused the seizure increase? Thanks,
Guest guest
, <<Would high ketones cause an increase in seizures?>> Yes.... they can. At least that has been the experience of numerous families here on this list. It's not true for every child but she would definitely not be the first. <<I accidentally left the butter out on the counter and I found the empty wrapper in her room today. Guest guest
It is more likely too many calories from the butter. Guest guest
has had seizures before when her ketones were very high 160+. Usually we give her a teaspoon of juice every 30-45 minutes until the keto sticks don't turn the dark maroon as soon as the urine touches the stick.
