Guest guest
Sherry, Ask you LLL. Don't be embarrassed. That is why they have meetings. At my last meeting a woman with a 5 month old baby asked for positioning help. Please just ask they can help because they will be able to watch you. Pumping at night would definitely help increase your supply. Scars are normal if you had horrible cracks. Get back to basic positioning with lots of pillows. LC see people at all various stages of breastfeeding. If you are having trouble don't be afraid to get help. If someone judges you for that find different help. Don't sacrafice your breastfeeding relationship because of embarrassment. Wendi Supply help please... has been nursing hourly now for a month or so. He sleeps all night(from about 8-9 til 6-7) I have noticed since he has started that my supply seems to be going down. Sometimes he latches on and does not get anything til my letdown(about 30 sec). Would pumping at night help bring up my supply? I wake up really engorged in the morning and it takes a few hours to empty. Luckily he nurses allot in the mornings. Also I am having a hard time getting comfy. He is getting really heavy(23+lbs at 5 months). His latch is also not great. I had severe cracks for 8 weeks and that side is always tender. I have scars now. Is that normal? I feel stupid seeing my LC 5 months into nursing. Plus insurance is gone now. I do have a LLL meeting on Wed, but it is embarrassing to ask for positioning help this late in the game. Any one have any tips? Thanks, I know I can always get answers here. BTW We have no water now(pipe broke) and it is so nice to not have to worry with formula. Guest guest
Sherry, Wendi had some good suggestions. I might add that if you are uncomfortably engorged by morning that maybe you should wake him up at night for a nursing. Babies are better pumps than machines. Try massaging your breasts while you nurse at night, too, to see if you can get more milk out then. As for your latch, like Wendi said, go back to the basics. Have someone watch you nurse, like the LLL Leader. Do you own a copy of the Womanly Art of Breastfeeding? Look at page 48 for the section called Breastfeeding in Slow Motion. Go over those steps and make sure thats whats going on. I would bet anything that if you called your local LLL Leader and asked her if she would mind if you dropped by her house to have her watch you guys nurse that she would be thrilled. Be sure you tell her all thats going on, especially with the night patterns, and your dropping supply.

Make sure his bottom lip isn't tucking under. Zaid does that sometimes and it can hurt. Wendi >> And Holden does that with his top lip---which is what caused all my cracks. Amazing, now that he isn't doing that (we're " suck training him), nursing feels good. ~AManda
Guest guest
Thanks everyone. Our positioning is really awkward. It was so much easier when he was tiny. I left a message for my LLL leader. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Sherry ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Mom to (8), (5), Kaitlyn (3), and 12/17/98 Also wife to Kenny!
