Being tired is normal. I slept the first week. The time will come when you

will start to feel better but now try to get some protien, water and lots of

rest. The weight will start to drop when your body adjusts. Just think you

will be rearing to go and spring will be here so you can get out to walk.

What a great time of year.

Hey Kim

Right after surgery, I had no appetite, till around 8 weeks, and then I started

to be able to eat a little more. It took everything in me to get that CIB down

my throat and the water too. I hated eating. Plus, I was FREEZING all the

time. My boyfriend was complaining all the time cause I had the heat turned up

to 90!! And I was still cold. I went to Walmart and bought myself a long

flannel nightgown and lived in that with sweats on under it, socks, and a few

comforters. Now at 11 weeks out, I am not as cold and don't need so many

blankets on the bed.

Good luck

Hi Kim,

At 2 weeks and 2 days out of surgery, I am doing about the same as you physically. I have managed to catch a cold too so I have been in bed a lot too. Every time I cough, I hold my belly. I would be a lot better if I didn't have to have the gastric tube which is now out. My RNY incision looks good and no pain there, but the hole filling in from the gastric tube is where my pain is. Dr. Thayer did not want to give me any more Roxicet. I am just using what I have left for when I go to sleep as I cannot move around in cell. I am just beginning to go in one direction on my side but not by much. Can you sleep on your sides?

I haven't noticed the cold thing YET. I am usually always cold so maybe that is just normal for me. I hope it doesn't get worse with the surgery.

Take care. I am so happy that everything worked out that you could get your surgery done. Best wishes in your recovery. Sally

Re: question

Sally, As I'm sure you know, you had surgery 5 days after I did. I think the loss of appetite is normal for a lot of us. I am 3 weeks out today and still have to force myself to eat and drink. The only other problem I am having is I am so, so cold. I talked with Sally this a.m. and she said this is also normal for some of us and that I needed to just try anything I can to get warm and work with it. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what they did about it? Also about exercise. I haven't yet felt up to it. Anybody else have trouble getting started. I hardly leave my bed. I mostly just watch TV and read some. I don't feel depressed but I just can't seem to get moving. I am really worried that this will affect my weight loss and hanging skin. Any input would be appreciated. Sorry for rambling, Kim from Templeton Dr. Thayer 12/28/00

sorry to hear you're getting negative feedback from inlaws...just remember

most people don't have as much info as you do re; this surgery so you are

really the only one competent to make this decision...turn it back aroound on

them...tell them thanks so much for your concern I know you must be afraid

for me but I know this is the best decision for me...so I need you to be

positive and support me....my grandma always said you get more flies with

honey than you do with vinegar...

good luck

Would it be better then to give benzos between meals then?

Where in the book does it say that you are supposed to eat five cups

of vegetables each day? I have been on SBD since July. I have lost a

lot of weight and a lot of inches. I don't know how this was possible

because since joining this group I have discovered that I am not

following the diet like most of you. When I started the diet the book

was all I had to go by. Where are you getting your information?

Thanking you for your help.

It's in there somewhere, because I read it, too. Take a look at the

sample meal plans and add the veggies in those.

It may not specifically say it, but has been deduced from the menues as suggested here.

Beth,

The vegetable quantity that is posted in our files came from the SBD website sometime last year. It might not have last years posting date on it, because the file was recently moved.
