The killings stop when the alcoholic was committed for life. This is, of course, B.S. I just made it up in the last 20 seconds. It's so much easier to spead lies than truth. This particular writer goes back in history and tries to blame all the problems of the world on those who are ascertained, by steppers I'm sure, to have had "the disease." This author, for some of his facts, has gone around to AA and Alanon groups of all places! To me, the kind of thinking outlined at this site is some of the scariest thinking we've got going today. I really hope the consciousneess of the Western world can be raised to the point where this type of hatred is recognized and discouraged. Funny how this guy doesnt address the " great mystery " of why Hitler killed millions of ppl - and that was the explicit intention, whereas Stalin had at least the nominal excuse of merely liquidating " class enemies " . The reason of course is Hitler the low-alcohol beer drinker doesnt quite fit with his theory. Hitler's weakness was chocolate, which he consumed a couple of pounds of a day; however somehow " The Secret History of Chocoholism " doesnt sound quite so exciting. In fact, Hitler took drugs to try to control weight gain and by the end was heavily dependent on them, but this guy is interested in promoting the " Disease of Alcoholism " , not the less socially acceptable disease of Addiction, which would let off all those naughty druggie types. This looks rather lke the writings of JC Gunnclann, with whom those who are on other addiction-related boards may be familiar. What they miss is simply that because antisocial individuals arent good at controlling their impulses they are also likely to develop addictive problems; however, not all addicted ppl are antisocial. Many ppl who develop adiction through attempts to drown the pain of being ill-treated by others. This text reads basically like a Bible thumper's rendition of Original Sin - and this reveals the cultural roots of this kind of attitude - the " Disease of Alcoholism " has become a pseudoscientific secular Original Sin to replace the declining influence of conventional Xtian mythology.
