Guest guest
Hi , I think that 2 months seizure free was your son's keppra 'honey moon' I didn't relate the behavioural problems to keppra until now (thanks for that). I I'm currently dropping the dose of keppra, as we have just started the Atkin's diet and interactions with the keppra are real enough for us. My son's ketones would be high before meds and within an hour be minimal, resulting in convulsions. We currently dropped the dose by 125 mg to 1575 mg and gradually brought the evening dose forward as he is more susceptible to seizures at night, and that gives us time to get the bacon and eggs out before bed. I agree with you completely, wean the keppra first too many problems for keto kids. Sallieann
Guest guest
We also got terrible behavior with Keppra. Turned our normally calm, peaceful 7-year-old into a non-stop, aggressive, whirling dervish. After three exhausting days, we dropped the drug and his behavior returned to normal. Guest guest
Has anyone had any positive experiences with keppra? I hope the nueuros are taking note of this for other kids sake.
Guest guest
Well, lets see. Jackie is still on kepra (3 pils a day, one in the am, two in the pm, 250 mg each). There was an impact on cognitive ability, which is subtle, and there have been no gm's. We're weaning it (slowly-taking a break and focusing on depakote for a bit to give her body time to adjust to the lower dose of kepra). Has it been positive? We're not sure, since she went on the diet, 12/10/01 things have been improved remarkably. mother of Jackie age 7 keto since 12/10/01 kepra and depakote
