Guest guest
Maureen, Did anyone respond to your question the best way to chop cabbage? I may have missed the answer but was wondering the same thing. Let me know wht you think about the salad I will try to make it the next time I go to the store. Zephyr Cabbage Salad saga continues Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that my cabbage salad is made and tastes GREAT!!! I had a couple of bites (I didn't put the noodles on it yet) to try it out and now it is in the frig. Thanks again for your version! Just from what I remember of the tastes of Jill's, it was kind of oily tasting, and yours isn't! I guess that is the difference from 1 cup olive oil to 1/3 cup olive oil. LOL!! I also bought rice wine vinegar for the first time to use, and I like it alot. Do you buy the natural or the flavored? I got the natural because it had 0 calories and the other had 20+ calories.I guess you know what I will be eating for a few days! LOL!!! I think I might just get addicted to this salad!I figure I could also make it without the chicken and serve it as a side dish with other stuff. What do you think???Just wanted to share!!Maureen~There are no strangers here... Only friends that haven't met yet~
Guest guest
, Do you mind my being a pain? Could you work the points for me taking out the chickne and adding in the raisins and sunflower seeds? If you can I would really appreciate it. Zephyr Re: Cabbage Salad saga continues Yep, a friend of mine in SA made it and it was really oily too. I just *love* rice wine vinegar!! I've not tried the flavored versions though. I've always made it with chicken for a main meal but you could easily drop the chicken for a side dish!! Add the sunflower seeds and maybe even some raisins!! This salad is addicting :-) I hope the rest of your family likes it too!! Are you still having the boomers?? I can't believe your AC went out!! I'm glad you are able to use the window units at least :-) ~~mary@... ~There are no strangers here... Guest guest
Hi Zephyr, This is what said about cutting the cabbage: Cutting the cabbage depends on if you like long shreds or little pieces. I kinda like the little pieces for the cabbage recipe so I just cut the head into quarters then use a butchers knife to cut it into thick slices (I like the core so I chop that up too) then I just chop the slices into little pieces. I was thinking about putting it in the food processor and letting it cut it up, but I wasn't sure how mushy it might get. So I cut it up like said. I really liked the taste of the salad. I made 's version. Even (10 yo) liked it. He was the only other one that I could get to try it. Robin, and don't like to try new stuff. will pretty much eat anything I eat. will taste stuff if I make him. Robin won't try anything new, his excuse is "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". is just your normal 4 yo and doesn't eat much of anything unless she really wants to! LOL! Guest guest
You got me thinking.....I wonder what the difference between raisins and cranraisins (dried canberries) would be, if anything?? I don't have either of them right now, so I can't check. Maureen Re: Cabbage Salad saga continues Yep, a friend of mine in SA made it and it was really oily too. I just *love* rice wine vinegar!! Guest guest
I've never actually done this... but I hear the best way to cut any lettucy type thing (spinach, cabbage, etc) is with a plastic knife. Something in the metal knives cause the edges of cut leafy veggies to brown. Maggie > Maureen, > Did anyone respond to your question the best way to chop cabbage?
