Guest guest
I hear you, Zanna. I just can't believe what the Prednisone does to our bodies. I would never have believed it in a million years, if I wasn't experiencing it for myself. I can stand the chubby cheeks (although they fill my glasses up when I smile), but I really hate the huge double chin and neck. It's repulsive. I also hate what they refer to as my " barrell belly " , which is my mid-stomach area. That is especially what makes me look about 9 mths. pregnant. It's HUGE and makes me sooooo self-conscience. Does anyone else have a problem with that area?? I'm also getting ugly, purple stretch marks all over my sides and breasts. It's repulsive! *sigh* Dawn wischic68@... wrote: > What is greenware??? > > I'm with you on the bathing suit issue. Guest guest
Ohhhhhh that's too bad then about the greenware. I am sure it didn't make a very good cushion to land on either!! lol you poor thing. Zanna
Guest guest
I know what you mean. I don't like it when people say 'oh, I am sorry' when I tell them what I have. I am not sorry-yeah, I would love to not have it-but don't feel sorry for me. I pray for other people before I would ever pray and ask for things for myself!! Guest guest
I also have the barrel belly. It is so gross!! I have always had a flat stomach until now. My worse problem, though is my face. When I was seventeen I had some swelling on the right side of my face that would come and go for about a year. A diagnosis was never made, although I was tested for sarcoidosis, lupus and hodgkins. The last time the swelling went away so did the fatty tissue on that side of my face. So before this disease I had an asymmetrical face. It was noticeable but not grotesque. People would ask me if I had been in a car accident. Now with the DM and the pred, the left side of my face looks like a pumpkin, but my right side has not changed It is still very skeletal. So I guest you could say that I have a half-moon face. Several people have asked me if I just came from the dentist. In my everyday life it doesn't bother me, but when I know I am going to see people that I haven't seen since I've had the disease, I cringe. Or people that I am meeting for the first time because they look at me with such pity. I hate that. I don't feel sorry for myself and it makes me angry when people take it upon themselves to feel sorry for me before actually knowing my situation. Hope everyone is having a good day! Guest guest
Dawn All those lovely pred sysmtoms.....I got um! and add to that the camel hump....sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder who that old bat is.....couldn't possibly be me.....LOL Vicki Glad to hear I'm not tht only one that packs greenware around for years. I have one piece left of a canister set out in the garage. The rest of it got broke but I still keep it. Clean it and have it fired? hmmmmm what interesting new idea....LOL Obviously I am back from my bead weekend. It was fun...had a ball....met some new friends and got to see some old ones. Now I am home. My legs hurt and are swollen up like a blow fish.........I hurt all over and am just about ready to go back to bed. Too bad having fun has such a miserable pay back time. Guest guest
Zanna...What you said reminded me of the surgeon who did my thigh and shoulder muscle biopsy. When I went back to the hospital to have the stitches removed, I ran into the surgeon in the hall. He recognized me and stopped. He took my hand in both of his hands and said, " I'm so sorry. " It scared the sh-t out of me at the time! I went home and immediately called my rheumy, thinking that they had found something more than DM. She said no, just the DM, but that my muscles showed a lot of damage and that if I were a surgeon, the diagnosis would be terribly devastating because of the career sacrifice. I could easily see her point. And it has helped me to realize that I'm lucky in the things I can still do in my life that I did before this disease. Annette Re: Re: Vicki I know what you mean. Guest guest
Hi Vicki! Forgive me, but I had to laugh when you said you didn't know the difference between rice and pasta--- I'm sorry (hehehe!) Rice is a grain. Pasta is usually made from wheat, which is a different grain. Stay away from white rice- most good nutrients are stripped. I like brown rice- has some flavor and is more " chewy. " I keep thinking that I should go gluten-free for real, but I keep putting it off.......... JJ.
Guest guest
Hi, I was just going thru all the old emails that I didn't get to read. I just read what you wrote about repainting and redecorating the outside of my house!! LOL!! I did plant some new flowers out there this week while I was sick. I am sure that helped me.... it had to be done. We needed some color out there. I just went to my good friend down the street, to borrow her humidifier and she took Brody for me til hubby gets home. She is such a good person, I am so glad we met!! Zanna
