Um . . . a *what* deficiency? Does this mean the disease of

gambling addiction could be treated by smoking opium?

Yeah . . . part of the point of Peele and Brodsky's _Love_And_

_Addiction_ was that non-drug experiences could also constitute

addiction, and therefore the disease model didn't make sense.

But a lot of people don't seem to be deterred by the fact that it

doesn't make sense, and have concluded that addictions to

love, gambling, whatever, are also diseases.

I do think some of this nonsense has died down, though. The

heyday of steppism was really in the mid- to late '80's. It's

been a long time since I heard of anything as goofy as, say,

a 12-step group for people who drink a lot of cola.

I hope people have been writing about the " crazy things " I say as much as

you are writing about Gunnclan since what I write actually matches truth and

his doesn't. Please feel free to quote me when I write about the hideousness

of altruism.

I can't, He can

or

I can't, we can

Very scary and harmful language for me personally. I absolutely can!

Good grief Sparky. You are in the homeland up there in VT. I often got a chuckle from people here in MA who described their enlightening pilgrimage to VT to visit Bill W's grave.

Re: Re: FW: your question (JOIN TOGETHER)

Hi All, At the meetings I am forced to attend, they all absolutely swell with the excuse of disease. This has become more prevalent over the years here in VT . It was almost never used here 10-15 years ago. In the last year or so that Ive been required to go, it has been used almost as a badge of pride, unlike the Jews who were forced to wear identifiers by the Nazis, these people "shine" in the glory of it. It's a damn creative abdication of individual responsibility for thier own choices and actions. And when they exhibit the damage the program itself does to them through thier blender brain thinking, it is to them a point of pride. It makes me sick when they "share" and start out with, "My name is XXXXXXX and I'm a greatful alcoholic". What a load of silly putty. And when a newcomer shows up, cripes, these sops positively swell all up in themselves as if it will legitimize thier own "diseased" behavior by passing the abilty to accomplish so much working the steps while actually doing nothing but make excuses. ........ And when someone comes crawling back ....... Well, you've all seen it.....What can I say? Ya know those old inflatable boxing dummys years ago that had the bottom filled with sand..... hit em all day and they would just bounce right back up for the next punch....... Steve

1 : unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others

2 : behavior by an animal that is not beneficial to or may be harmful to

itself but that benefits others of its species

doing what is the opposite of human nature is hideous. It creates

hideousness - unhappiness, pain, confusion, fear, anger and hatred.
