Guest guest
Why in the world would you stay on phase 1 for a month? Send a list of what you eat all day and the amount of excercise you do. You need to change the way you think about it. "I don't know how much longer I can do this diet" this isn't a diet. You must completely change the way you eat for the rest of your life. Rethinking this whole thing......errrrrrr I don't know how much longer I can do this diet. I've been on phase 1 for a month or so, and nothing has happened, except that I"m very tired, going home every night and falling asleep, which can NOT help me lose weight. And today, my stomach is swelled up so big I seriously look like I'm about 5 months pregnant. And I think that's from the yogurt Im' eating. Now, I would cut the yogurt out, but I hate milk and yogurt is my only dairy source. I think the amount of carbs that I'm getting in this diet are messing with me. Doesn't matter if they're good carbs, they're running me down. I"m hypoglaucemic and very sensitive to carbs. Especially since I was on Atkins for over a year, my body is just not adjusting to the carbs I'm getting in this diet. I have been very serious about what I eat and have been for years. I posted yesterday the things I was eating to and we decided everything was okay except for adding more vegetables, which I just said I cannot add more because of the way that the carbs make me feel. And it is a diet. The definition of diet is what someone eats. What you eat is your diet. Whether it's good or bad, it's your diet. Guest guest
Well with me feeling the way that I do with the amount of carbs that I'm getting from dairy and vegetables in this diet, I sure won't move into phase 2 and add more. It may not be a lot, but it's wearing on me. Or something else is bc I'm tired!!! And they feel just like hypoglaucemic spells, the kinds I get from eating too much sugar. I have low carbed and low sugar for years and it has always helped me to feel better and not to have these spells. I watch closely what I eat bc I know how I'm going to feel if I get any carbs or sugar in a high amount. I eat my snacks every day. I never had this problem when i was restricting carbs on Atkins, so I guess even the good carbs, I can't eat.ann wrote: We aren't supposed to go more than two weeks on phase 1. Guest guest
Maybe you do need to add WW bread or WW pasta or Brown Rice for a few days...add just 1 of them for a few days and see what happens. Guest guest
Yeah that's what I thought too. I started out with energy and it's gone downhill. I think the bloating is a lactose thing. Can we drink/eat Lactaid milk on this diet?? And I apologize if it sounds like I was jumping at you. That's another thing I'm feelign lately is serious grumpiness and then the bloating is not helping my mood and the lack of sleep either! I apologize"L.S" wrote: I would think by now that you should be having a ton more energy and I have no idea what the bloating it from....might be time to see the doctor and see what's up.....maybe a thyroid problem....or even an allergic reaction to something your eating daily...for dairy try cheese and not yogert maybe. I really have a gut feeling the protein is causing her the ho hums... even if she did not experience this before when on Atkins.. but the bloating could be possibly be fiber related... Guest guest
Misty, it's easy to see why you're frustrated. I agree that you should take a log of what you've eaten and go to your doctor. I would be interested in what he/she has to say. Why in the world would you stay on phase 1 for a month? > > Because I " ve gained weight instead of losing it that's why. > > Send a list of what you eat all day and the amount of excercise you do. You need to change the way you think about it. " I don't know how much longer I can do this diet " this isn't a diet. You must completely change the way you eat for the rest of your life. That is why you are doing this. No one can live always being on a diet. It doesn't work. Send the list of what you eat and lets see what is going on. > > > That's where you are wrong. I know what's good for me and I know how my body reacts to things. Now, can anyone help me with the SERIOUS bloating and the lack of energy and sleepiness?? I know it can't be withdrawls from carbs and sugar and bread bc my body is used to not having those. I think I've put too much back in. > > > Rethinking this whole thing......errrrrrr > > > > I don't know how much longer I can do this diet. It may not be a lot, but it's wearing on me. Or something else is bc I'm tired!!! And they feel just like hypoglaucemic spells, the kinds I get from eating too much sugar. I watch closely what I eat bc I know how I'm going to feel if I get any carbs or sugar in a high amount. I eat my snacks every day. Yesterday I went from 175 to 181 lbs from the day before. This morning, I was 176. It keeps going up and down like that, but I started at 175 so not losing anything. I started noticing the bloating yesterday. What kind of carb intake has your doctor recommended to you? Have youdiscussed the SBD with him? The only thing I discussed with him was when I was on Atkins. I told him I had been eating small meals through the day and limiting my sugar and carbs. He said that's exactly what I should be doing to keep my blood sugar up so I won't have the sugar spike episodes.

Guest guest
Misty, I have both IBS and lactose intolerance. I've known about the lactose intolerance for over 20 years, but just got the IBS diagnosis in Feb. The lactose intolerance is pretty easy, because you can just drink Lactaid milk and take Lactaid pills when you eat other dairy (take with first bite of food). IBS is trickier. Fiber can really bother you if you have it. You have to be careful about how you eat your fiber. One thing I found out this past couple weeks is that the raw fruits and vegetables I was eating on this diet were worsening my IBS and making me constipated. It seems like it should do the opposite, but with IBS, that is how it can affect you. This week, I have cut back on salads, cut out raw veggies for snacks, starting cooking my vegetables more soft and started baking my apples or having applesauce instead of eating them raw, and am feeling a lot better. If you don't want to boil the nutrients out of the veggies, but want them soft, you can cook them in soups, stews, quiches, etc., or steam them longer. Here is a website about IBS: http://www.aboutibs.org/characteristics.html And this site has information about which foods cause IBS symptoms: http://www.helpforibs.com/diet/ Lactose intolerance won't put on weight, but it will give you awful gas and bloating. IBS can make you put on weight if you are constipated from it. My scale said I wasn't losing, but had gained, and as soon as the constipation got better, the scale showed a 5 pound loss. Some people with IBS can't have dairy at all. That can cause constipation. I haven't noticed any problem with my having dairy, though. Try the Lactaid. If the Lactaid pills and Lactaid milk (the 100% lactose reduced) don't help you, then maybe the dairy itself is irritating IBS. We don't have to have the dairy on SBD if we can't have it. ann Hmmm, I've always thought I probably do have IBS but can't get a doctor to diagnose it or give me anything for it. They're just like, well, just eat more fiber.....errrr......I am almost sure it's the dairy causing it. I haven't touched dairy in sooooo long, well except for cheese. But I mean I haven't eaten yogurt or milk or anything for a couple years and I " m only eating it now cuz Dr A says so LOL I will definitely try the Lactaid pills and the Lactaid milk. Could it be what's stopping me from losing weight too?
