Guest guest
ok - very small and not really very important rant - if there was one thing I could do over, I would have intervened at various times in 's various therapies. Because his therapies were " medical model " - often it was very counter intuitive to my heart as a parent. Because (as one example among many) he was (still is) tactile defensive, they would roll him up in egg crate foam repeatedly and then unroll him. He would be lying there in furious tears to the audience of three lovely therapists clapping and smiling in his face, merrily rolling him up again. It was really torture pure and simple. And if I had a penny for every well intended professional who would first look to say " I think he is having a control issue.... " and then base their (or our) strategy from there - rather than look at other options - such as sensory overload, or simple physical pain. arghhhhh. hindsight is always so clear. then there's the therapist who kept throwing the ball right into 's face because he didn't keep his eyes on it. ok. I think I am better now :o0 thanks~ love, yuka ----- Original Message ----- > His aural rehab therapist really thinks it is a control thing
