we are just starting to wean the Epilim now and I just wanted to

check with you guys whether we should be looking for better control

of the myoclonics first, or just go for it. She is currently

on 400mg at night and 300mg in the morning of Epilim Chrono.

I think epilim is the same as depakote right?

YES IT IS

The weaning schedule might be okay for the start of the wean but there

is a good chance you will have to slow it down as you get closer to

the end. The lower the dose gets the harder the wean seems, withdrawl

seizures and with depakote, can get major behaviour issues too as you

wean - but its worth it, trust me :)

OUR DOCTOR SUGGESTED THAT WE MIGHT HAVE TO CHANGE TO ANOTHER FORM AS

THE EPILIM CHRONO IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN 200/300 AND 500 TABLETS. SO I

GUESS WE'LL BE ABLE TO SLOW IT DOWN TOWARDS THE END.

HOW LONG DID YOU TAKE TO WEAN JESSICA OFF COMPLETELY?

Also watch for signs of toxicity as you wean -although it does

against common sense, kids can get more toxic on the drugs and more

acidic as you drop the med. So if often means ratio adjustments as

you are weaning and then when its all gone, seeing where you are and

readjusting the ratio again.

WHAT SIGNS OF TOXICITY SHOULD I LOOK FOR???

I don't think I would wait for complete seizure-freedom to start the

wean, it might be whats keeping you from getting there. Just don't

make any other changes around the same time and don't start when she

is ill or something else going on.

WELL WE'RE GOING FOR IT NOW - HER FIRST REDUCED DOSE WAS LAST NIGHT.

SO FINGERS CROSSED...

DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT ASPARTAME???

I've also noticed during reading the posts for a couple of months now

that Aspartame can cause seizures? Is that right? Almost all of

Francesca's drinks contain aspartame. Does anyone know anything

about Carb Coolers which you mix with water? Are they available in

the UK? Or are there any drinks available in the UK that don't

contain aspartame, apart from water obviously!!!
