Guest guest
Hey, ann... Just a note from my experience - When I went below 1200 calories/day, I pretty much stopped losing! And if you're eating this much protein, you really need to eat at least 20 grams fiber a day. You can put Metamucil into the FitDay program, just as a custom food. I'll bet you're so full because you're eating so much protein! It should get better when you go out of Phase I. Best of Luck! Serena (Colin's girlfriend) my fit day Here is my fitday chart for yesterday:Calories Eaten Today source grams cals %total Total: 1135 Fat: 48 435 40% Sat: 14 129 12% Poly: 8 70 6% Mono: 22 201 18% Carbs: 38 111 10% Fiber: 10 0 0% Protein: 136 543 50% Alcohol: 0 0 0% I am not sure if I'm eating enough calories, but I'm not hungry enough to eat any more. Same with fiber. Not quite sure how to increase it, other than metamucil, which you can't add into fitday. I can't eat another bite. I had a bit too much saturated fat yesterday, but that is the only day. We ate pork, and it wasn't tenderloin. Normally, we eat tenderloin. annReminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. The South Beach Diet teaches you to rely on the right carbs and the right fats-the good ones - and enables you to live quite happily without the bad carbs and bad fats. Guest guest
Hi, I can't figure out how to add the metamucil. Under custom foods, just regular foods are listed. I don't see a way to add a non-food item. Other than Metamucil, I have no idea how to get more fiber when I am so stuffed. I feel like the food is up to my throat. ann < > Hey, ann... > > Just a note from my experience - When I went below 1200 calories/day, I pretty much stopped losing! Guest guest
In Fitday.com, under foods, go to add custom, then new custom food, then click go. This will bring up a screen where you can put in all over the dietary information from your label. It acted weird for me when I added Metamucil - the package says it's 20 calories but the fitday says that can't be right. I went with what fitday said, 8 cal. I've used fitday for over a year and I have a huge list of foods I've added under custom foods. Fitday saves those foods in your account when you log in. And Metamucil is food - just fiber filled food. The Yahoo! Groups main page has a current list of foods to enjoy in phase 1. This includes lots of vegetables. If you drop your protein to about 40% of your total calories for the day and increase your carbs to make up the difference (using those vegetables), you probably won't be as stuffed. Protein is the most filling and difficult to digest, adding more vegetables would be great. You sound frustrated (from the tone of the post, and it's hard to tell :-). Dieting is hard work and there's so much at risk it's natural to get upset. You are doing a great job and trying really hard. Guest guest
I am not frustrated, it's just that I am so stuffed, I feel sick. All the broccoli I ate with my salmon for lunch just left me stuffed. I didn't each much salmon, but I had two cups of raw broccoli. I think part of it is that I am constipated. Okay, I will try dropping the protein amount and upping the veggies. And this week, I can add grains and fruit, too, which will also help. I can see I will need to definitely decrease the portions of meat I eat to be able to fit in more fruit, veggies and grains, because I just am not someone who can eat huge amounts of food. I always get full quickly. You'd think I'd be thin! Thanks for explaining the Metamucil. Fitday told me the calorie count was wrong, too, LOL. ann > In Fitday.com, under foods, go to add custom, then new custom food, then click go. Guest guest
Hi ann... I never really go above 25% of my daily intake in protein.. You are eating twice the amount of protein a day and less than half the amount of fiber than I do.. My calories per day are around 1200 and I lose weight.. less than that I still lose.. Over 1450 calories and I gain if I do not excercise that day.. My carbs are also around 54 percent a day.. and 17 percent of my diet comes from fat.. ann wrote: Here is my fitday chart for yesterday:Calories Eaten Today source grams cals %total Total: 1135 Fat: 48 435 40% Sat: 14 129 12% Poly: 8 70 6% Mono: 22 201 18% Carbs: 38 111 10% Fiber: 10 0 0% Protein: 136 543 50% Alcohol: 0 0 0% I am not sure if I'm eating enough calories, but I'm not hungry enough to eat any more. Guest guest
Well, I am not the only person here who said Fitday said the calories on the Metamucil bottle are wrong. It did the same exact thing with Serena. It is obviously a common Fitday glitch, not something I am doing wrong. ann > Hi Ann.. > If you are accurate with what you enter (that being all custom) then your results will prove to be just as accurate.. > >
Guest guest
Yes, but I am in phase 1 and not having any of the fruits or grains that you can have. Starting tomorrow, I can add those. ann < > Hi ann... > > I never really go above 25% of my daily intake in protein.. Guest guest
When you add a food to fitday the carbs, fats and/or protein need to add up to the calories if you are just putting in the fiber content then it won't add up. Hope this helps. Take care Ellen
Guest guest
I did add all of it. I added every single thing in the nutrient section. Fitday said that the exact nutrients on the Metamucil bottle were wrong, that they did not add up to the amount of calories on the bottle. It did the same to someone else here. Fitday seems to think the Metamucil people put the wrong amounts of calories on their bottle. ann > When you add a food to fitday the carbs, fats and/or protein need to add up to the calories if you are just putting in the fiber content then it won't add up. > Hope this helps. > Take care > Ellen
