Guest guest
Hi, everybody, This is in response to Patty's request that ZincO users post the cleansers, moisturizers, lotions, etc. they are using with the ZincO cream. Here is my regimen, which has been working well so far: Morning: Nizoral shampoo, Sy's Vita Oil, Eucerin Tri-Lipid lotion, ZincO. (I've also successfully used the Aderma Gentle Treatment Cream as a moisturizer, but I like the Eucerin Tri-Lipid better.) Evening: Aderma Septilibour cleanser, Vita Oil, a Begoun's beta-hydroxy lotion (just on acne blemishes and bumps), Eucerin Tri-Lipid lotion, generic zinc oxide cream (just on blemishes and bumps). I use this approach because I have a " regular " acne component in addition to rosacea. I don't cover my whole face with zinc at night (only spot treat the blemishes/bumps) because I find it can sometimes clog my pores. The Eucerin Tri-Lipid lotion contains dimethicone as its active ingredient, so I use that as my " protective shield, " per Dr. Nase's suggestion. Guest guest
**Attention all Zinc users** I just received the samples of Zinc and Vita-oil from Dr.Sy. A couple questions/comments came to mind as I began to read the small phamphet enclosed with the samples. I purchased these products thinking that they are more of a treatment, but rathe soon foiund out that the Zinc is more of a concealer. As many of you posted, it came across as a treatment product. I saw that many of you mentioned that you use it in the evening. Why would you use it in the evening if it just conceals the redness? Maybe I misunderstood something, and I apologize if I have. If some of you can respond with explantion as to what EXACTLY the zinc cream is and does. It may help other's as well as myself. How many of the group is still on MetraGel/MetraCream? Has this been the best treatment for you? Thanks for all the information!! Guest guest
Hi Trish, I'm one of those using the Zinco cream both morning and evening, in combination with my topical. I've found that it works well as an anti inflammatory for my skin, as well as being a concealer and sunscreen etc. Also, sleeping has always been a major flushing trigger for me, so I like the extra protection at night. I'm looking forward to the untinted version for nighttime use! In case you missed it, there's a recent post from Dr. Nase about some of the other benefits of the cream at: http://www.escribe.com/health/rosacea-support/m12166. Jen I purchased these products thinking that they >are more of a treatment, but rathe soon foiund out that the Zinc is more of >a concealer. Guest guest
Tricia-- I actually don't and haven't used any of the prescription topicals (well, tried Noritate briefly once, and that was a disaster). To control the inflammatory papules and the inflammation/irritation, I used to use a generic zinc oxide ointment--it worked wonderfully. The only downside was that it was somewhat thick and occlusive, and I didn't feel comfortable wearing it during the day. With the Zinc-O cream, I get the same (in fact, slightly better) therapeutic effects plus coverage plus sunblock. So no, the ZO is not just for cosmetic purposes--it has real therapeutic benefits for your skin, especially in reducing inflammation, which is the mechanism driving most of our rosacea symptoms. My skin has certainly been much smoother since I've been using it. If you read some of Dr. Nase's old posts, you'll find that he champions topical zinc oxide as both a treatment and protective measure, and Dr. Sy herself has recommended that people use the ZO at night, too, as well as during the daytime. Good luck with the new products... --- Trish wrote: > > **Attention all Zinc users** > > > I just received the samples of Zinc and Vita-oil > from Dr.Sy. Guest guest
Is the ZincO a prescription medication or can you buy it in the store? Debbie
