A few thoughts...

One question, why did you give her carbs for the PET? Do you mean the

glucose tracer or something else? Jake has had two PETS on the diet, but

never carbs or after effects.

Re: Keppra, we just started it a few months ago. Both our neuros warned

about starting on too high a dosage. Jake is 7 and 47lbs. We started on

62.5 mg twice a day, so 1/2 tablet TOTAL per day. We've gradually worked up

to 250 mg per day, or one whole tablet. He takes 1/2 am and 1/2 pm. We've

considered pushing it up, and my neuro says his max is 500 per day - that's

what the neuro feels comfortable with.

We've actually seen an increase in seizures over the past few months, drops

and grand mals. I'm suspicious of the Keppra. Last I was in they advised

me to push it up by 1/2 tablet every two weeks and see what happens. The

four outcomes they predicted were:

1. Worse seizures (more and longer)

2. Worse behavior

3. Worse seizures and behavior

4. Fewer seizures

They said that if we saw anything 1-3, they would discontinue Keppra

immediately.

So...that's where we are. I actually have not raised it yet for a number of

reasons. We've been travelling, and that's always a bad time to rock the

boat. I've also started cranial osteopathic work on Jake and it seems to be

helping, so I've held on the Keppra and am trying this first.

If she hasn't had a drop in 5 years, and she's having drops, I would

strongly suspect the Keppra. maybe back off on the dose a bit and see what

happens?
