Hi Lesley! I have DM, too. How are you doing? Are you on prednisone?

help - I'm new!

Hi Zanna and all of your friends on this board. I'm Lesley, aged 47

and was diagnosed with dm two years ago. I am married to and

have three gorgeous daughters. I've already looked at some of the

photos here and think it is wonderful to be able to put a face to a

name. Hope to hear from someone soon,

with love

Lesley

Hi Lesley!

I'm Lynn, dx'd with DM. What kind of meds do you take? From your e-mail address, I guess you are Australian and not exactly an Arnold Schwarztenegger!!

How old are your daughters?

Looking forward to getting to know you!

Lynn

Hi Lynn,

It's great to " meet " you! Yes, I have the dreaded DM, diagnosed two years

ago although I've had symptoms for about 15years on and off. I am presently

taking 10mg of pred per day, 10mg of methotrexate per week and ivig every 3

months. I also take efexor 75mg for depression although don't think I was

ever really depressed, just anxious about not being diagnosed. I am blessed

with a wonderful husband, and my daughters are 23, 21 and 20. Their

names are , Tori and and they are all very different but good

friends. is the only one still living at home and is in her second

year of photography. How about you? I'd love to hear your story, and

everyone else's of course!

Yes, I am an Aussie from Melbourne and have never met another myositis

person.

With love to all,

Lesley

Hi Annette,

Oh yeah! I'm on prednisone or prednisolone as it is called here. I have

tapered down to 10mg from 50mg but still feel that my face is too fat. My

neuro doesn't want to take it down any more as my rash keeps flaring. I'm

also taking methotrexate and ivig. How long have you had dm for? Hope you

are feeling good,

With love from Lesley

Hi Lesley... I've had DM for ten years (or more...I remember noticing some

changes a few years before the " big flare " ). I do very well (in my own

opinion, that is). :-) I don't have much endurance, so I manage to do as

much as I can early in the day and then crash in my recliner from 3 or 4

p.m. on. Works for me so far. I use a cane to help keep my balance...no

one knows why, but my left side is 50% weaker than the right side, so I have

a pronounced limp. Stay in touch, Annette
