,

I have this too , for me it is thought to be to do with the nerves, I

get this feeling like something is " crawing " under my skin and it

itches and I have to scratch. I always put it down to the fact that I

am an " allergic " person, until I found out that a lot of my family

get it and one of my doc's said it may be to do with the nerves.

Just a thought.

Hi,

My dr said it may be a nerve thing too. I guess nothing I can do about that.

It really bothers me.

You can try a special cream that they use for Shingles called Zostrix

HP, if you have sensitive skin then DON " T try it (I found it burnt

like anything), I tried it for my RSD, but my skin is WAY WAY to

sensitve and I felt and looked like someone had put burning cooking

oil on me (remembering that I have RSD and the MOST sensitve of

skin). It oculd be of benifit though, if not then talk to your GP or

neuro (if you have one) about what you can try. Also (if you don't

have RSD)you can try ice massage on it when it gets itchy and also

try bathing in Oatmeal (yes put about 1/2 to 1 cup of cooking oats

into the end of a pair of stockings, then drop it in the bath (DO NOT

USE SOAP OR ANYTHING ELSE in your bath) and wash with it (it will

ooze a while substance (the starch etc)and wash with this, You can

also do this in the shower by dropping it in the bottom of the shower

when you start to run the water and then wash with it. It is GREAT

for eczema, dry skin and itchy skin (vets use it for dogs as well)

and I use it for my eczema, the good thing is that it is SO gentle it

wont damage your skin.

Worth a try.

Reading some of the other responses - remind me when we get together

with the massage session that I get out a couple of creams/lotions I

have here that you might want to try. One of them is a combination

of Emu Oil and Aloe Vera that I have read good reports about and

have used myself for sunburns.

This has been a minor problem for me. Especially on my back. I just figured

it was the dry skin of hypo. Or maybe the skin changes as i healed.

I have also read it's a symptoms of too much thyroid hormone...which bothered

me a little bit...because i do take 4 1/2 grains. But if i drop below that,

I get hypo symptoms.

Sometimes I wonder if the whole taking it orally is just a bit inefficient

with some parts getting a bit more than they need...just as before we were

treated, some parts were affected more than others.

I use a good lotion..and that's about all i know to do for this problem.

Deb, another thought---itching can be a fungal issue on your skin.

My husband has had it just recently, especially on his back, and had

to get an anti-fungal cream from the doc. Made it go right away.

There could also be OTC fungal creams. Janie

Cindi,

I thought it might be my Armour and I am on 4.5gr too but am not at optimal yet

per symptoms. So maybe it is just allergies to who knows what. I do use

lotions all the time so I don't think it is just dry skin. Just probably

something else fate has thrown at me to be an irritant!! Deb

I got put on Prozac for depression and started itching like crazy. Almost

all the SSRI's for depression cause severe itching in me. I understand it's

a common side effect. Have you started taking any SSRIs or changed any of

your medications lately?
