Guest guest
OK. I am doing so much better!!!! In August it will be two years since this started. I am post menopausal having gone through it very early. First, I had a yeast infection. Treated it with over the counter cream. NEVER DO THAT. Then doctors etc. Then I was told I had atrophic vaginitis. I started hormones. I got smart and switched to bio-identical hormones. It helped a little. Then I was diagnosed with vulvadynia. I started amitriptyline-went up to 150mg. It helped. I started neurontin-got up to 1600mg a day. It helped. I still used ice a lot. Some days were better. I wore pants for 4-6 hours and then the burning would start again. This year I started wearing skirts more and not wearing undies when I was home. But even when I went out and wore them I think it was better than pants. I can wear pants much longer now but I won't try jeans yet. I reduced all meds so that I will soon be off. However, I need to stay on the hormones. One thing new this year was adding testosterone, just applying it to the vaginal area. I had tried it before but it hurt too much. This time I got an ointment and it was fine. You need a compounding pharmacist. So, I can have sexual intercourse and really enjoy it. Sometimes I need to use ice for about 10 minutes afterwards and then I am fine. For the last month I have very little pain at all. I feel joyful! I appreciate being normal!!!! I also used EFT (emotional freedom techniques) which is an accupressure type thing and it helped me tremendously emotionally when I felt hopeless. But to be honest, I also think it has helped my body to heal and to clear the energy points. I would recommend it to anyone to try. I am really glad that I learned it. I would also recommend getting a book on Feldenkrais. Research it on the web and see if it is something you'd be interested in. There is so much involvement with the brain and the centers for pain. There is a lot to learn in this regard. I also read about Centerpointe Research Institute. They do research on the brain and have CD's that you can play usiing stereo headphones which is supposed to have a profound impact on the brain. I just received a demo CD and I am looking into it as it is supposed to be good for many things including just expanding the mind, being more creative, etc. But it is supposed to help with pain! SO YES, THERE IS HOPE! I think that you can't solely rely on meds and doctors. You have to find your own healing. Diane
