Guest guest
Lara, I forgot the placenta question - in all 3 of my pregnancies, I started with a " low lying " placenta, meaning it was close to my cervix, although not covering it, which would have been " placenta previa " . As I recall, the placenta was always low-lying and twice located on the back wall of the uterus (ie. towards my back) and once on the outside wall. I did have some spotting in all my pregnancies, not significant, but still scary, that my doctor felt may have been related to placental placement. During my first delivery, I had a retained placenta, where fragments didn't detach completely and had to be manually removed from my uterus. No, it wasn't a pleasant experience, I have to say, but in the end not a huge deal. I have also heard that in the case of UD, the placenta may be smaller or less efficient (ie. more prone to degenerate faster as you approach term) than in a " normal " uterus. I asked the delivering OB each time and the size and appearance of mine were supposedly " normal " . Anyway, that's my experience. Take care, Lia UD
