Guest guest
Yogurt is one of those tricky things that seems to confuse everybody at one time or another. For Phase I you want plain, unflavored, no fat yogurt. Don't be confused by ones that say vanilla or low fat. The best thing to do is what you did, look at the label. There shouldn't be any sweeteners or flavorings in there. The brand I get is made by Dannon. Having said that though, there are some " cultured dairy snacks " out there. They all but call them yogurt. The numbers on them look good. I like a vanilla flavored one, Carb Control, also made by Dannon. Again, just look at the ingredients and watch what it's sweetened with. I consider those more of a treat than I do the plain yogurt (which I sweeten with Splenda.) Plus they come in little containers and so are more expensive. Hope this helps! dmrushing wrote: > I told (list mom) a few days ago that I just discovered I was > buying (and eating) the wrong yogurt!! I've been buying Yoplait Low- > Fat with the blue label. Guest guest
I was a little confused by yogurt too. I was eating Yoplait Carb Monitor about 2 times a week (because that kind has the lowest sugar I can find). I got some plain last night though, to sweeten with Splenda because even though the other kind is lower sugar, it still has some. I really like yogurt, but I try to limit myself on it because I know I will eat a ton! -- > > > I told (list mom) a few days ago that I just discovered I was > > buying (and eating) the wrong yogurt!! Guest guest
> keep in mind that this is naturally occuring sugars and are allowed. There was much discussion about this sme thing a few weeks back. I always buy no fat, plain yogurt either Kroger brand or Dannon and do just fine. It has no added sugars. I do know that all yogurt has naturally occurring sugars and it's eaten up by the bacteria in the yogurt. There are alot of 'AS' added non-fat yogurts on the market. I guess it's one of those 'read the labels' thing to make sure there are no 'ose' ending ingredients that have been added in. :-) Connie
Guest guest
I make a shake with mine every morning. I add about a cup of yogurt, 1-2 T peanut butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla, splenda to taste, and ice. In phase 2 I add a banana. Mix it in a blender. It is so yummy that I actually crave these shakes. They fill me up as well. Re: yogurt I had that experience this morning. I bought the plain non fat, not even thinking about it. Then, I looked on the nutritional info and it said it had 12 grams of sugar! After reading everyone else's posts, I am feeling better about it. They say as long as there is no added sugar it is fine. I am looking for things to liven up the plain a bit though. I used Splenda today, but I'm thinking of experimenting with other flavorings that are SBD friendly.--> > I went to the store and found some non fat plain yogurt...but it had > 17 grams of sugar....is that right?
