Guest guest
Pam, I applaud your enthusiasm but Dr Agatston didn't intend for you to stay on P1 longer than 2 weeks to start. You need to move into P2. You wont be going full board into returning to eating fruits. I used to take bata blockers when I was on Welbuterin but now that I am on Celexa I don't need them. I was watching an infomercial today about some excersize ball and it was interesting to see what they said about it. I have one so I am not ordering it but it said, siting on the ball will engage your core (abdominals) and they had a lot of simple exercises. I have lost 10lbs. and feeling great already. I have about 100lbs to go so I'm a long way off. But anyway, my Question is how long has anyone stayed on P1 in this group? I would like to start having fruit, but I'm afraid it may slow me way down. I don't get to excise that much with my work schedule, also I take a bata blocker for a rapid heart rate, They say that can slow the weight loss down? Anyone with more knowledge on this would be great. I love this group I have learn so much already. PamReminder: The South Beach Diet is not low-carb. Nor is it low-fat. Guest guest
Hi Pam; You've done great on Phase 1!! I think most people stay on P1 for only 2 weeks. In the book, Dr. A. doesn't say NOT to go longer, but that you'll likely get bored with the food and not lose weight as you did in the first 2 weeks. He does say to feel free to go back to P1 for a few days when we've indulged on sweets or a carb-heavy vacation. Your loss is sure to slow down when you start P2, but thats ok. It's expected. You'll introduce fruits and healthy starches very slowly and watch the scale to make sure you're still losing. I can't help you about the beta-blockers causing a weight gain. I don't know. I'm glad you joined us and hope you'll post messages often. Donna From: justdownfromhere@...Subject: Newbie Question Hi, This is my 3rd week on Phase 1. I have lost 10lbs. and feeling great already. Try a different fruit the following week and watch weight loss/gain then as well. This will give you an idea on where you stand on fruit. > I don't get to excise that much with my work schedule, also > I take a bata blocker for a rapid heart rate, They say that > can slow the weight loss down? Anyone with more knowledge on > this would be great. I'm on Coreg (carvedilol) for congestive heart failure myself and yes, it can play havoc with weight loss. Also real good for depression as well. I've been very successful on SBD though -- 18 pounds in 2 months' time. What all are you taking?
Guest guest
Pam, great job. As of Monday, I am down 75 pounds. I only weigh once a week. I teeter between ph 1 and 2. If I have a week on ph 2 that I stall, I go back to ph 1 for a couple days. I am very careful about adding in ph 2 foods. I rarely have a fruit and a starch in one day...but that's my choice. My metabolism is messed up from me being anorexic as a teen. Remember, healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week. Even if you stay on ph 1, you'll likely slow down. I just want you know that loosing 100 + pounds can be done. I have about 23.5 to go, so I'll have lost 100 by the time I'm done. OH, I'm a 30 yo stay at home mom to 2 boys, age 9 and 11 that I homeschool. I'm 5'10" tall and started out in a tight size 24 Lane ...now I'm in a loose 14, still Lane Good luck to you Twana 278.5/203.5/180 justdownfromhere@... wrote: Hi, This is my 3rd week on Phase 1. Guest guest
That is GREAT Twana. well I hope to lose 100lbs. right now I'm just happy as long as I don't go in the other direction. But hopefully within a year I'll have it all off, that's my goal. Thanks to everyone for your response. someone ask what meds I'm on. I just take Corgard for the rapid heart rate, it keeps it under control. when I was pregnant with my son (which now is 13) I had what they call a tackacardia (or however you spell it) my heart rate was over 200 beats a min. pretty scary. But since then no majors problems. But the Dr. said since I don't have any major side affects just keep taking them, so its been over 13 years. Well, don't know if I'll get to be back on here for a few days. I'm a hairdresser and today I am booked from 8:30 until 7:00 non stop. Then tommorrow is even worse. Pretty dumb I know I should have made time for lunch. But maybe I'll be down an extra pound Monday. Everyone Have A Happy Easter!
