From my research so far this seems like the normal first step.I hope to get to know you all better. TIA for reading this far, I could go on for days. )Have a nice day,Betsy Hi Betsy, welcome to the group. How long has he been having the pain? The reason I am asking is because if it is within I believe 3 to 6months there is a good chance that he can either be cured or be put into remission, if it is longer than that then the chances go down. take care and welcome to the group, Lin

I guess I can start by telling you our story. First of all this is happening in both of his feet.On July 14, 2004, was jetskiing and was struck by lightning in the back of his head and then he drowned. He was revived and on life support for 16 days in the CCU, then regular hospital for 8 more days and then to rehab for another week. there was extensive heart damage and nerve damage in the left arm and both legs. His pain did not start "immediately", better yet, about a week after he got home to my parents house after leaving the rehab center. You see, with being a lightning victim, that is problem number one, we had NO idea why he was burning from the inside out (his description of the pain). We assumed it was the lightning. As I do more research on RSD I see here we are again in the medical feild where no one can give you answers. Lightning victims are so rarely treated there is not a lot onf info on that so here we are again.. As I research this monster that is eating my brother alive, I see it is just as rarely recognized.I am so happy to see the support is out there for our family. I must also add that is 100% ok mentally and we are so fortunate considering where the lightning entered his body. Now we are left to help him deal with this pain. His dr that diagnosed the RSD wants to do a nerve block. From my research so far this seems like the normal first step.I hope to get to know you all better.
