Guest guest
What a sad and wonderful mix today on the message board! I have a boring question for any of you who might know- what's a normal size uterus, and what are some of you UU's? Also, does anyone know about thick endometrium? I just got numbers back from a cycle day 21 pelvic sonogram, and haven't had a chance to research yet. Besides, you guys here seem to have more of a clue than most of the official sources out there. Here are my results: Uterus- 9.6 x 3.5 x 5.3cm Endo stripe- 0.2cm (20 mm seems really thick to me!) Right Ovary- 3.3 x 2.8 x 2.4cm; 2.3 x 2.0 x 1.8cm cyst Left Ovary- 3.2 x 2.6 x 1.9cm; 1.2 x 0.9 x 0.9cm cyst Anyone care to translate? (or am I having a math brainfart today?) That is fairly thin for CD 21. The cysts could be corpora lutea, or just cysts . .. . the size is in the ballpark for corpora lutea, cysts and fairly mature follicles . . . but a 2-mm. endometrium is thin for anything but the very beginning of the cycle. Uterine dimensions look pretty good to me. I would say that they are more or less the same as a whole uterus. From what I can remember, my SU uterus, which had a complete and muscular septum, measured 6.1 cm in breadth--also normal. I'd ask about that endometrial stripe! Good luck. Guest guest
Thanks Beth- I just had a rush endometrial biopsy because the prelim report said endo strip was 0.2 cm- that's 20mm, insanely thick, seen only with carcinomas. The gross sample looked very normal, but I have a few days to wait for the official path results. Then we looked at the text part of the US/radiology prelim report, and the radiologist had written " thinned endometrium 0.2cm " So now I'm convinced that all the worry was for nothing except a misplaced decimal. Shoulda been 0.02cm. Phew! Hopefully I'm just dealing with a thinned endometrium, which after 5 cycles of clomid 200-250mg (!) and no ovulation is not surprising (my luteal phase progesterones are consistently below 1 Take care! Hmmmm. 2.0 cm = 20 mm., so a 2-mm stripe notated as 0.2 cm is correct. 0.02 cm would be like a molecule thick! > > Hopefully I'm just dealing with a thinned endometrium, which after 5 > cycles of clomid 200-250mg (!) and no ovulation is not surprising > (my luteal phase progesterones are consistently below 1 Oh Lordy . . . 5 cycles of Clomid at that dosage will do that, especially if they're back-to-back. Sounds as if you need to move on to injectables, maybe. Do you have PCOS? That is frequently resistant to Clomid but responsive to a lot of other stuff. I once had a 14-mm. uterine lining in the middle of a Clomid + Pergonal cycle. I remember being a little worried about its thickness . . . but everything worked out okay. Good luck! Guest guest
Trying to catch up on posting. Here are the measurements I was given on my UU. Uterus- 6.5 x 2.9 x 4.3cm Endo 0.6cm Left. Ovary- 2.1x3.0x2.7cm Rt.Ovary- 3.5x3.2x2.6 Hope this helps. I have often wondered the same thing.
