There are so many kids who > have disabilities that are homeschooled I homeschool all my kids, as do many parents in my area. I also counsel new homeschooling parents of children with disabilities for my ISP. We don't register with the public schools for a few reasons 1. I don't want my district to even know I exist, too much hassle involved. 2. Parents removing kids from public schools are fed up with the " babysitting " that the district calls the " appropriate program " , and believe their time is better spent with their kids rather than fighting their district. They want nothing to do with their district at all. Occasionally, the districts are all-too-happy to get rid of the child. Most of the time tho, the district hassles the parents, see comment 1 above. 3. Most of the kids do better at home [this does NOT mean YOUR child would do better at home, it is just the comment I receive from other homeschool parents]. There are a few other reasons, but these are the most common. Dana
