I homeschool all my kids, as do many parents in my area. I also counsel new

homeschooling parents of children with disabilities for

my ISP. We don't register with the public schools for a few reasons

1. I don't want my district to even know I exist, too much hassle involved.

2. Parents removing kids from public schools are fed up with the " babysitting "

that the district calls the " appropriate program " , and

believe their time is better spent with their kids rather than fighting their

district. They want nothing to do with their district at all.

Occasionally, the districts are all-too-happy to get rid of the child. Most of

the time tho, the district hassles the parents, see

comment 1 above.

3. Most of the kids do better at home [this does NOT mean YOUR child would do

better at home, it is just the comment I receive

from other homeschool parents].

There are a few other reasons, but these are the most common.
