Guest guest
Is this the same as compartment syndrome? My daughter just saw the pain dr today, and after a grueling exam, he said he hasn't figured out what her leg problem is, but it may be compartment syndrome, or reflex sympathetic distrophy. More tests to be done with the vascular surgeon as well. It may also be a nerve condition. Thank god the dr saw her leg change colors, and temperature. He is concerned about it, and said obviously something isn't right. FINALLY!!!! Someone who actually is on tract with us! He says she needs an EMG/NCV - electomyography, nerve conduction studies & a tibial artery compromise with excercise. I guess it all goes under the category of active vascular testing. He does not think her knee is subluxing. He also wants to do needle insertion into specific points in her back and neck. No drugs, just the needle. He thinks that after about 10 sessions of this, her back and neck problem can be resolved. We need to check into this more, just actually got back from seeing him. Now, is very sore, as he really put her body through a lot of movement. Most thorough exam I've ever seen, though. He also gave her a note to get out of pe until further notice. The school counselor said I have to get the final diagnosis, and then a 504 form. Well, who knows what will happen, but I'm just starting out with all that. I'm exhausted. You'd think I was the one who had the exam!!!! Mon Re: Narrowed medial compartment Well since I have no responce to this, I have to guess no one has had this knee problem. If you don't know what it is, from what I understand from reading, it means the cartilege has worn away between the upper and lower leg bones on the inner side of the joint. It is part of arthritis and can be caused by a miniscis injury. I hade hoped to get some feedback from you guys, but I know that sometimes new stuff comes up here that others haven't dealt with. I guess we'll find out more from the MRI. C > Hi all, Dylans' knee Xrays showed narrow medial compartment. Well, I looked it up, looks kinda bad for just being a kid. Any body been repaired for this? MRI in a week. I'm narrowing the Drs list I want to take him to now, but insurance is fighting me every step. C. > > >
Guest guest
NO Compartment syndrome is NOT the same thing, compartment syndrome is to do with the pressure with in the leg (the compartments), compartment syndome is " USUALLY " caused by things like fractures and crush injuries and is a vascular problem that is treated by a vascular surgeon. As to RSD, I am an EDS'er with RSD and the colour, temperature and pain sensations you describe sound a LOT like my RSd (I have had RSD since 1993 and 1995 (I had it in my knee 1st and then my shoulder (from 2 different injuries, we go thte Knee RSD pretty much under contol but my shoulder RSD is out of control and always has been. Sorry I can't be of much further help, but I am glad that a doctor is FINALLY taking her symptoms seriously and this can help with a higher chance of remission if it is RSD and reduce the risk of permanent injury etc if it is compartment syndrome.
