Guest guest
> holy crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > how did THAT happen??? I don't know. has tried several new things lately. He's eaten meatloaf with us, and something we call comfort food, it's ground beef, kidney beans, onions and flour (so it makes it's own gravy). Up till now he's never eaten meat by itself before. He even ate a meatball sub on a field trip! I really think the zyprexa has something to do with it. He did keep asking if it had chicken in it, so I think part of his eating issue has been psychological, but I told him it didn't matter what it had in it, the foods were cooked together and the flavors were blended and that it wouldn't be tough or chewy. And he ate it! > > gina- mother to kailey who has only taken one bite of meat in her entire life and it was bologna :-P He has never tried bologna. " , and ran out of the room > but I told him it didn't matter what it had in it, the foods were cooked together < geez, if my mom had told ME that as a kid, i would have NEVER eaten it!!! Guest guest
> how much does he take? kailey takes 12.5mg 's at 5 mg in a.m. and 5 mg. and he weighs 93 (and holding) was just upped to 3.75 in the a.m. and 2.5 at night. > > > He did keep asking if it had chicken in it, so I think part of his eating issue has been psychological < > > i really think kailey's is too, tho i'm not sure where that came from. i remember she once smacked trevor for eating chicken, yelled " how could you?? " , and ran out of the room It sounds like she has a problem with the idea that a chicken was a real bird. > > > but I told him it didn't matter what it had in it, the foods > were cooked together < > > geez, if my mom had told ME that as a kid, i would have NEVER eaten it!!! For some reason this works with him. He's afraid of the tastes of certain foods I guess, and I've been telling him and showing him that when they are cooked together, the tastes change and the one you don't like may now taste like the one you do like. The fajita had onions and green peppers, neither of which he has ever eaten before either! By the way, with the zyprexa I was able to stop 's clonidine, too. Does he eat veggies and fruit? Apple slices are a Putter Staple. He will eat corn on the cob. He used to eat carrots but it has been at least a couple of years since he ate one. He likes watermelon sometimes...I think that might be it. I'm > having trouble with my kid who is a complete carnivore... well and > carb-i-vore. > Unlike Kailey, Putter does not consume milk at all. Hen [the " n " on this posting was added by Putter after he carefully studied my message] also does not eat cheese or ice cream except perhaps a teaspoonful of ice cream. I think it upsets his tum and he knows it because he used to like ice cream and cheese and cheese pizza. Nowat ewhen he eats pizza he only
Guest guest
> Does he really eat no meat at all? Does he eat veggies and fruit? I'm > having trouble with my kid who is a complete carnivore... well and > carb-i-vore. eats no meat in any fashion. He eats fuji apples, and occasionally raw carrots or lightly steamed broccoli. All foods must be room temperature or slightly cool. Ice cream is too cold. Toast is too hot. We do not eat combined foods except spaghetti with plain sauce, box macaroni and cheese (vs my homemade), and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We do not eat rice, hot cereal of any sort or pudding, but he will eat vanilla yogurt. The only way to eat a potatoe is a burger king french fry or as a potatoe chip. It does not seem to us the eats enough food for a sparrow, but he must as he is a large boy for almost five and generally quite healthy. He did stop nursing in the last six months, and drinks alot of milk which we fortify. His doctor is not unhappy with that or his overall health so whatever works is what we go with. We always offer and occasionally are surprised - hence the broccoli addition, and recently cheddar or cojack cheese slices. This is not uncommon with our kids and is largly due to sensory issues and in some cases allergies/sensitivities. is ten and still retains a pretty limited diet but does at least eat a small variety from each of the food groups. Foods are not to be mixed or have their juices run into each other, etc, but he eats a decent selection of foods now for a reasonably healthy diet.
