Guest guest
Yes you need to have the book so you know how the diet was conceived and how it works as a whole. There is really no way around not having it and reading it. Check with your local library to see if they have a copy so you can start reading it until you can buy the book. Guest guest
Hi ; Good for you for deciding to 'go on the Beach'!! I don't like to do laundry or clean the house, but it's got to be done. You'll NEED to cook to get healthy following SBD. Once you realize you've GOT to do it, it becomes routine. I absolutely HATE to exercise, but I know I NEED to exercise. I heard Oprah say (something like this) " I don't like to exercise, but it's something I HAVE to do to keep healthy. " That's just what I needed to hear to get me going to the gym! I see exercise as a 'medication' I need to take daily in order to get healthy. You'll have to talk yourself into cooking, . But, you can do it! Since you don't like fish and are working on your feelings about cooking I'd suggest using canned chicken or frozen cooked chicken strips. A lean sirloin steak is a BREEZE to broil in the oven!! Even YOU can do it! Eggs and beans are a staple on my menu too. Look in our 'files' under 'Phase 1' and look over the 'Foods to Enjoy List'. You'll be amazed at all the food you can eat. Phase 1 will certainly be uncomfortable for the first few days, but all of us can attest that " If I can do it, YOU can do it too! " Good luck to you, and I agree with everyone else about reading the book. It's a necessity! Donna > I plan to start this diet on Friday. I hate to cook and I don't like fish. Guest guest
I agree, the book is a MUST or you'll never understand the basis for everything. No fish? No problem. I ate fish once during phase 1. Yuck! Thank God for steak and chicken and a few other things. Learn what you're doing and stick with it. It becomes effortless. My wife and I started SBD a year ago in August. Now we don't even think about it. I lost 75 pounds, added 10 back on and have held there for months. Not bad! Guest guest
As long as it isn't breaded I think it would be ok to eat the Cosco precooked chicken/turkey. Low fat lunchmeats are good too. In the book there is a really good dessert called Ricotta Cre'me and I love it but my family didn't care for it. Guest guest
Yes, you can have the roasted chicken from Costco or other places. However, you're limited to only the breast. Leave the rest for other family members, or the dog. Don't forget the eggs and beans. Donna > Thanks for the pep talk. I don't care for steak either. So it will be chicken and turkey for me. Guest guest
To be honest, you'd be better off to pick up some chicken breasts, either skinless or remove the skin, then cook. You are only supposed to have breast meat. My thinking is that cooking with the skin on will trap fats that you don't want. Don't like steak? That's too bad. We enjoyed sirloin steak and lean ground beef regularly. Hope you like ham. That's easy to find in 96-97%. We got our book at Walden Books but see it at Sam's Club and other places all the time. You'll find it to be a valuable tool. We still refer to ours a year and a half later. We won't even lend it out. Guest guest
Phase 1 isn't too difficult but you need to understand the foundation of the diet to successfully adjust your habits. To that end, you REALLY need to give the book a read. You don't necessarily have to buy it (you can get it for $10-$15 if you look) but you do need to read it. The way the book is set up, you'll only need about the first 75-100 pages -- the remainder is fluff. Once you work through that, the rest is meal plans and recipes (all of which you can get through the groups). The important thing is to understand the premise of the WOE (Way Of Eating). Once you understand how this WOE works, you'll have no problem coming up with your own meal plan. If there's something you do not like, substitution is an easy enough thing to do. In the interim, you may want to just use the meal plan provided in the book for phase 1 -- that will get you through the full 2 weeks or just a few days, whichever you prefer. Good luck! Guest guest
, Kraft just put out some SBD frozen dinners, but I wouldn't eat them during phase 1. Cook a turkey breast and slice it down during the week for lunches and dinners. Add a salad, cooked veggies and you are good to go for dinner. But, remember, no bread on phase 1. So, you can roll up turkey and veggies in a romaine lettuce leaf for a lunch meal, or cut up turkey in a salad. ann > I plan to start this diet on Friday. I hate to cook and I don't like fish. Guest guest
That is what I normally eat every single day. So I guess I keep eating the way I am minus all the goodies.........chips, cakes, candies, etc. The lack of bread and rice my be a problem but I guess I can do it. Guest guest
Hi .. First off I would like to say start off my cooking simple.. Grilled chicken breasts or turkey breast done of a Forman grill or other similar grill. This takes no time at all to cook a 4 ounce "raw" portion up.. Serve that with a nice steamed veggie and a tossed salad with low fat or non fat dressing.. Let them be your standard dinner.. You can alternate what meats you are grilling each evening as well as what veggie you are steaming... I would not eat any processed or prepared foods... You can keep meals very simple and fast without having to resort to this type of eating... wrote: I plan to start this diet on Friday. I hate to cook and I don't like fish. Guest guest
- That is how I always cook my chicken! I love my Forman grill. I just don't see how that meal will satisfy me. That is what I keep telling my friend. This diet will take a lot of willpower on my end. My cravings continue on regardless how much I eat. I never seem to feel satisfied. Re: I start on Friday Hi .. Guest guest
I normally eat a tub of cottage cheese with NF yourgurt every morning. But now I need to switch to plain yougrurt (yuck). I will just eat the cottage cheese plain. I used to eat several plain rice cakes with the CC but I guess that is out now too..............boo hoo...........dang, this is going to be a rough two weeks.
