Guest guest
Ya know, JoAnn....I had to laugh as I thought of you in Atlanta during the lay-over. I was with this lovely large African American women who was trying to assist me in reaching the nurses back home to have a new pump sent down. Simultaneously, this woman was also trying to assit other folks who were flying. At one point, she called out the name " ?" This older woman, also Black, who was dressed in her Sunday best, answered in a Southern drawl almost as heavy as the customer assistant, "Did you say ?" The customer assistant responded,"Why yes I did. Are you ?" The older woman answered, "Is in trouble? Cuz if she is then I'm not . If she's not in trouble then I'm Ms. . Yes, I am." The customer assistant, looking perplexed, queried "Why would you be in trouble?" Ms. 's answer? "Well, hon. The only time I've ever been called was by my mother and only when I was in a whole load of trouble. So if I'm in trouble then I'm NOT . I juss be someone else." I thought I was going to die laughing. In the midst of a crazy-making medical moment, it was such a welcome relief to have something funny to laugh about. Now hush.
